RE: NCAA Bracket Challenges (Wm and Men)
CUSA has won 6 of last 8 NCAA 1st round games - all were lower seeds (all but 1 seeded 12 or lower).

8 of Rice’s 15 losses this year are to teams still alive in postseason action (2-8 record in those 10 games).

RE: NCAA Bracket Challenges (Wm and Men)
A few Rice related-ish notes from the men's tournament so far:
- Mike Rhoades led VCU (#12) falls to #5 St. Mary's
- Drew Peterson finishes with 11 points but USC (#10) falls to #7 Michigan State

- Watching the highlights from the Furman/UVA game and I heard the Furman band strike up a familiar tune (4:35 in the video) at the end of the game... turns out the Furman fight song is an upbeat version of 'Our Director's March', known to most posters here as Rice's Honor/ the alma mater. After some internet sleuthing, it turns out that Grand Canyon also uses it as their fight song... say what you want about GCU's for-profit status, they have an incredible home game atmosphere, maybe the best of any mid-major out there.

NCAA Bracket Challenges (Wm and Men)
Almaden is kickin butt and taking names in the AAC bracket challenge, 1st of 68 entries (max 5 per person). He’s got UConn as the champ in his leading bracket.

I’m shadowing and still alive with 5 teams left. I can win it all if FAU and Miami meet in the finals.

Wrysal is leading the Women’s bracket. Rice fans showing ‘em how it’s done! (As always!!!)

I’m in 1st in my wife’s office pool (another ESPN pool with 462 entrants). I had UConn winning it all, and Miami in the Final Four as well. But since half the lawyers in her firm seemingly graduated from Texas, it seems like half of them had Texas to win it all, and i was sweating out that end for sure just now.

I had FAU as a sweet 16 team. I probably should have picked them as a final four team but I didn’t do so.

The ratings may not end up being terrific, but I think the Final Four games will be.

Each one clawed, hustled and shot their way to Houston.

I'm extremely lucky on that bracket, my "Flyer Fifth" in the AAC competition. I'd heard one commentator on Selection Sunday pick UConn so enthusiastically that I thought I'd try it.

(FWIW, I can finish as high as T2 in the 319-player "Fans of Rice" league of the ESPN Tournament Challenge: https://fantasy.espn.com/tournament-chal...oupID=111. The leader had Miami making the Final Four but UConn to win it all. One of couple others could pass us if FAU or SDSU wins it all.)

Having watched most of the Elite 8 games, I do think that the UConn/Miami winner will take the title.

I have to think it will easily be the worst TV rated final four of all time

With Miami’s win this afternoon, it’s down to just me & Almaden in the AAC group. He clinches if UConn or SDSU win on Saturday. Otherwise yours truly will sneak away with it 03-wink

I had FAU all the way to the final two.
