Yeah, b/c we've NEVER seen a basketball post on football gameday.
Side note, ran into the Women's Golf team at the Wharf in OB, AL. They are playing in a Tournament in Gulf Shores. Currently T-8 after the first round. I hope this post is allowed since B-ball is over.
Hey Bert - OB is our favorite playground. Hope you are eating some good seafood while there! Ooops, sorry all - forgot it’s a football thread (or a basketball complaint thread…).
HA!! Yep, we love LA (Lower Alabama). We got back Saturday night. Ready to make it my permanent home. Hopefully soon!!! Ate really well. OSO @ Bear Point, Yacht Club and Beach House in Gulf Shores (best happy hour on the beach).
Orange Beach or Gulf Shores ... which would you recommend ? Never been to either one before ... Looking for a change of pace from Santa Rosa / Seagrove ..

RE: Spring Ball
We always talk and compare some players to 'Tony Pollard' types, but we don't really ever use any RB's in that manner (at least not since Norvell left) ... With the depth it looks like we'll have at RB, I would hope we put in some 2 back sets with one in a slot ... Jet Sweeps, Screens, etc ...

I hear you. This year we also got a new o-line coach though, which might have been the problem.
It was a big part of the problem. I am happy CRS manned up and replaced the guys who weren't doing the job. The position coaches will be better this season. I am still not confident in the coordinators, but CRS has grown so I am hopeful for this coming season.

I've been to both, thought it has been a few years, and I would say they are about the same. They are right next to each other. Maybe Orange Beach is a little nicer and also a little more expensive? Same ocean, same jellyfish.

You and me both and I also miss downfield blocking for those split backs catching passes! Those really made the offense purr. Opened up the deep passes and the run game. CRS is a run to set up the pass guy. Norvell was an everything sets up everything guy, take what they give you.

What drives me crazy is screen passes to the flat. Our blockers always wait till the ball is caught to engage the defender. Many times the defenders split the blockers and are in the back field and make TFL.

Lots of old Tigers in both. We stay at the same complex as former Tigers Ken Roach and Mike Stark. Almost all Memphis folks. HC for Lipscomb University Basketball, Lennie Acuff, has a place there. Super nice guy but always on the phone. ?.
Even ran into Will Hyden, LB for HCTW.

The more I see guys like Gainwell and Gibson blossom in the NFL, the more I appreciate Norvell. Versatility is the best thing for athletes, and Norvell was able to used Gibson's skill at Memphis, which is now helping him in the NFL.
Norvell always kept the opposing defensive coordinators up at night because of different formations Memphis (and now FSU) used. But the 21 personnel where he can run counter by both running backs, with the other running and a pulling lineman as lead blockers were tough to defend. Not to mention he used Coxie as an inside receiver to create a 1 on 1 opportunity. He's earned every right for that new contract he signed weeks ago, and he deserves every success for him forward. He's always 1 step ahead and doesn't get stuck into calling the same plays if they don't work.
And let's not forget about our special teams, too.
As tough as football is, he makes it simple. Create plays for your playmakers to have one on one opportunities. All the playmaker has to do is to win the one on one opportunity. Have playmakers with a brilliant QB, and there's your success. That's pretty much it.
