RE: Zeke released by COWBOYS....Tony now #1 running back
Pollard signed his one year franchise tag deal, he will make just over 10 million next season.

Tony needs to realize though that if he wants to remain a cowboy longer than one year he will have to sign a longer deal more in the 6-8 million range. The market for RB's is pretty clearly trending downward and 10 million is well above the current market in 2023.

The Jones' overpaid Zeke and it appears that has damaged the RB market for everyone. There are some very good backs out there who are finding the best they can get is 2-4 million a year.

There is a good chance Tony will get the most money by staying in Dallas a few more years. Its likely no one else will be willing to give any RB on the market 8 million+ per year. I think the Jones family will offer him in the 8 million range after his 2023 contract. If he demands more than that they will let him walk and he will likely get even less on the open market.

Right now the smart move might be to negotiate a multi year deal in the 8 mil range and try to get it signed before the year is up and avoid another off season negotiation. Meanwhile he will bank his 10 million+ this season.

That is basically the consensus from most of the insiders.
