He’s volunteering his services for free?

Chandler was taking on two and three Houston rebounders at times.

Chandler was key to the victory along with Alo pressure on the ball.

Yes. He says the love he gets from Memphis is all he needs at the moment.

He would screen down low to open lanes for CDR and Rose to drive.

We havent had a big since then who does that. All of our bigs have considered themselves scorers and they want to position for a shot on offense instead of screening the defense so others can make easy shots.

Also one of the reasons he was so good on offensive rebounds... by screening he was also blocking out for easy rebounding.

I'd love to see a paid position become available for Joey.

Joey volunteering to work with the Team! This is the kind of thing that makes a program great! I am so happy and grateful for his selfless gift to the Team, the University, and the City. One thing I remember from Joey's time as a player is that all the pretty girls and young women seemed to be wearing his Jersey! Man they just couldn't help it.

He wasn't a scorer but he ran the floor like a deer and was a strong finisher on the break. Joey threw down some of the nastiest dunks in tiger history. Often in the biggest games.

All of this. Plus he blocked shots and wore fur coats.

Dorsey sure bring some great memories.. but he has already made his mark on this team.. Chandler Lawson is a total different player now.. Even Williams is hitting all cylinders.

Not to minimize his contribution, but I’m pretty sure the NCAA has a limit on the number of paid coaches that can be on a team. So he has to be unpaid, right?

The NCAA this year decided to increase the coaching cap by two, effective July 1. So maybe Joey can get some money.

Edit: The current limit is four paid coaches. One head coach and three assistants.

Yeah, the transformation in Chandler from the beginning of the season to now is remarkable.

Chandler has also surprised me with his 3 point shooting lately.
I'm betting someone other than Dorsey helped him on that.

I wonder if Penny is allowed to pay Joey out of his own pocket, friend to friend.

RE: Joey Dorsey doing work
@Unionman - Some of the things I found suggest (emphasis on suggest) that Memphis requires a degree for an assistant coach.

Yep. He could have just said he'd wait for a paid position to open up, but it shows he really wants to be a part of what Penny is doing.
