Feels good to beat USM’s ass one more time after a horrendously ugly display of basketball in the first half. Beat Clemson and let’s play in Nashville!!

Lol, they're talking about our attendance on the Slum Belch board.... Weird that they're throwing stones from their empty glass houses.

ugly for the most part but settled in to a bit of the flow from the 8min mark on to win it.

Southern Miss ran out of gas. They played hard and disruptive for about 30 minutes but there is a pretty big talent gap. USM would have been somewhere around the 7-9th best team in C-USA this year, around FIU, UTEP, La TecH range.

The proper order of things has returned to balance. That's about how the champion of the lowly Sun Belt should match up with a P6 team.

Some observations:

a. The two Southern Miss dancers kept up their mis-matched dancing for the full 40 minutes.

b. Now I see how the 6-9 shooting ace ended up in the lowly Sun Belt. Damn, he was soft inside. I think Attalla might have scored on him.

c. No Rongie or Frodo appeared in the trillions minute. Have we seen the last of them?

How many games did Rongie appear in? Is there a chance he qualifies for a redshirt?

I looked that up a while back, curious as well, and it appears that basketball still follows the old rule: appear in the scorebook at all (even once), burn a year of eligibility. Football is laxer, basketball not so much.

It was awesome to see a good ole fashioned opposing coach meltdown too, and the fact it was a rival's coach made it even sweeter. I hadn't seen one of those in a while. I had a front row pass to the Tom Penders fiasco a while back. That was entertaining. He pulled the ole "fake a syncopal episode to try and get a technical foul rescinded" trick.

Cool to see Huggins in attendance too. One of my best memories as a student was beating his Cincy team with Jason Maxiell in 03-04 and storming the court.

I would have scored on him. I score on guys 6-4. - 6-6 now and I’m a grandpa. Lol.

That Cincy game is a favorite memory of mine as well. Our son had gotten dragged to many UAB football games and had gotten very blase about it. We didn't win like Bama, peer pressure at school, all that stuff.

He was twenty and going to UAB when we went to that one, and he got a solid dose of the Bart when an attendance record was set and we beat a really good team. That night converted the heathen into a solid UAB fan.

I totally forgot about KJ not scoring at all against FAU in the championship game and today he scored 26.
