Those buyout numbers are low. Definitely setting odds of this thing not going well as opposed to creating insurance if a P5 team came along. I would assume that would be reworked after we see some proof of concept. Rather smart. And fiscally responsible for Finis. 05-stirthepot

It's the same thing. He's our coach for 2, 3 years tops. Either he hits a home run and is coaching at a top 20 program after that, or he sets the program back seven years and we send him back to high school.

I honestly think it's a pick'em as to whether it's us paying the buyout or P5U, but just dont see a world in which we are average by the end of year two and saying "lets give him one more year to see if he can turn it around!" By the end of year two we will either have fans getting FireBreathersOnly tattoos or we will have fans making endless jokes about how we should of known he was going to burn the place down with all those fire breathers around...

Let’s be real guys, the next tv deals and conference moves are going to completely change the economics and make these buyouts silly. There is no amount of buyout that would keep a coach from leaving. You will want it just high enough that you get decently compensated if they leave, and just low enough that you can make a change if you need to. These look very fair to me.

Was going to disagree with you but you did say after year 2 (misread at first pass). We need to hold on too our seats as we could end this upcoming season with 2 wins and (even though it seriously hurts) still see evidence that Dilfer has things trending up. There is just so much turnover on this team + a first-time college coach that puts more weight on the early ceiling of the HCTD Era
