EG is as good as EG wants to be.
Exactly.
The vast majority of his mistakes were not from balls-to-the-wall, westbrook-esque intensity. They were largely brain fart, lazy, poor fundamental mistakes.
It's on him to improve that. I saw some intermittent improvement in it throughout the season, but he still returned to a lot of his bad habits after having good games.
Don't throw that one handed no look pass every time off the screen and roll, don't jump in the air with no idea what to do with the ball, don't gather a defensive rebound and charge into the front court for a quick, ill-advised 1 on 2 or 1 on 3 shot, don't let the guy coming up behind you on defense poke the ball away so much, don't throw a pass to a teammate that isn't there on the last possession of a game two games in a row, don't get technical fouls. I'm sure there's other stuff I missed.
He can be in the NBA if fixes that one simple issue - Don't make tons of dumb decisions on the court. Simple.
He's obviously got the athleticism and raw skills. Does he have it "between the ears"? From what I saw last year, I would say NO. But it's 100% on him to fix it, and thankfully it's a correctable issue.
