FAU has a 7-1 center who can score, so maybe its a similar matchup and gameplan.

Ya, you have to give respect to a team that has won over 30 games in a season. Mediocre teams do not do that in any conference. They will be a tough matchup but we will presumably have the two best players on the court with Davis and Williams and they have been red hot.

When you're 31-3, losing is something that almost never happens. It akin to trying to beat an undefeated fighter. They don't really know how to lose yet so its a much tougher out.

As Elliot Perry used to say, confidence is the key. 31-3 teams are supremely confident even when behind.

Yeah, I didn't know that. Maybe you are correct about similar game plan.

We finished 15 in RPI, 16 in Torvik T-Rank, 17 in Massey composite, 19 in Kenpom, 23 in NET, and 29 in BPI (what a joke)

This is a top 25 team.

RE: Memphis -2.5 vs FAU
Nice article (not behind pay wall) about FAU:

https://bustingbrackets.com/2023/01/17/f...-surprise/

"FAU’s style - Florida Atlantic’s success doesn’t come from talent. They don’t have a unique defensive system. They simply play their game and don’t let the way other teams play deter them. FAU’s offense typically contains four guards and one big between Vladislav Goldin and Giancarlo Rosado. All of their guards are good shooters and capable playmakers as well. Goldin and Rosado will set a ton of ball screens and they’ll also utilize a lot of dribble handoffs. The two actions allow for the guards to operate in a ton of open space. The other perimeter players do a nice job of filling the open spot and Goldin especially does a nice job rolling to the rim off of the ball screen. This system has led to FAU having a top-30 offense in the country this season."

Basically, FAU does not have a star or stand-out player. Owls typically have 4 guards and 1 big on the floor. As stated in above article, bigs are Vladislav Goldin (7'1) and Giancarlo Rosado (6'8). FAU has a very young team, with 4 freshmen, 6 sophomores, 3 juniors, and 1 senior.

Owls rank 204th in adjusted tempo. Basically they play a below-average tempo. they did compete well with UAB, who has a high paced style - 18th in adjusted tempo. FAU prides themselves in off-ball movement and unselfishness. In a 247 interview* FAU Coach May said, “We’re not selling a vision, we’re selling a style of play,” May continued, “I think players who enjoy passing, enjoy cutting, they enjoy playing in unison with four other players, I think they’re naturally attracted to us. And we’re attracted to them.”

Common opponent: Ole Miss
Nov 11: FAU 67 - Ole Miss 80
Dec 3: Memphis 68- Ole Miss 67

Owls vs NCAAT teams:
12/21 vs 16-seed Northen KY: FAU 67 - Norse 52

It is not yet confirmed whether or not anyone playing for FAU has bigger nuts than ALo.

Looks like a great 3-pt shooting team. Not a great FT shooting team.

It’s a team we won’t really be able to run to death. They play 4 guards and go 9 deep before the minutes drop off. As far as handling the press I don’t know

now THATS an intersting thought...

Penny's Tigers vs Pastner's Tigers circa 2013

going into the NCAA tourney they/we were 30-4 (16-0) with Adonis, Joe Jackson, Chris Crawford, Shaq Goodwin, etc.

Lost to Ole Miss by 13 points

2nd game of the season. We lost to St Louis. Both teams much different
