Clemson lost to absolutely ****** South Carolina, Loyola, and Louisville squads. A win in any one of those games changes the outcome for them. How they lost is beyond me.

You're probably right about that.

I think when you get down to the last 6 or so they are looking for a reason to keep you out. Maybe Bubba will tell us what he was thinking about Clemson.

Clemson got screwed.

Beat NCSU 3X by 14, 25, and 26
Beat Duke
Beat Pitt at Pitt
Beat PSU

Can't figure out NCSU's seed in comparison.

Can't lose to three bad teams. State's worst loss was at Syracuse. Personally I would have placed Clemson as a 10 seed myself.

Hubert Davis does a marvelous job covering up for what are internal player/personnel issues. UNC also lacks top 15 talent this year. Staying home is the best thing for them.

Right out of the Bobby Cremins playbook.

Hey...the entire ACC could have split that NIT money.

The NIT is a shadow of its former self—they don't even play in MSG anymore. You end up at like the 4th best arena in Vegas.

That said, I would have played the reserves, but I imagine their hearts weren't in it either.

You play in whatever opportunity you have to extend the season. You play for the love of the game and a chance to win a championship, and because that is what actual competitors do. It's a b*tch ass move to just up and quit because things didn't go the way you thought they should have. Zero respect for UNC.

Says who? It’s a meaningless invitational tournament and they didn’t want to play in it for whatever reason. I’m sure UNC will be fine without your respect. The committee and really nobody respected the conference this year. This is what happens.

Two years ago, Dook and Louisville declined the NIT. Do you respect them, or did you even know that?

Dayton and I think it’s Texas Tech declined this season’s NIT as well. Better add them to your list.

I thought there was a rule you couldn’t decline an NIT bid, bad move by UNC in any event

Says nearly anyone that has ever been a coach.

Teams turning it down in 2021 was a completely different situation: COVID pandemic was still going on with a lot of unknowns, constant testing, and all games having to be played in a bubble in Dallas suburbs was a lot different than the pansy decision of turning down a bid today. Texas Tech's coach just resigned Wednesday after a "racially insensitive comment"... their players are all running for the portal...not sure they have enough players left...and they announced they wouldn't be playing in any postseason on Thursday so they may not have even received a bid.

I don't respect anyone declining it. Shameful, weak, garbage decisions by all.

NCSU was 1-6 against quad 1; Clemson 4-4. Bad loses clearly more important than good wins. Head to head was abysmally lopsided. Flat out better team left out because someone's metrics trump common sense.

I didn't have Clemson in my bracket. They had a NET of 60 and lost two Quad 4 games, one to South Carolina and one to Loyola. They also had a pathetic non conference schedule. That being said, NC State has no business being in the field over Clemson having lost to them three times, especially with just one Quad 1 win. Weren't we saying all season that was why North Carolina didn't belong in the field? I can stomach Pittsburgh being in the field more even though they also lost to Clemson (and at home). Their NET was lower than Clemson and they also had a Quad 4 loss but at least they had four Quad 1 wins. It was clear this Selection Committee didn't care about Quad 1 wins.
