BJCC / Protective Stadium
The BJCC and Protective Stadium haven't been doing things well for Legion and other events.
We thought Protective Stadium was bad when they shut down concessions but its been terrible for Legion fans.
If you follow Magic City Brigade on Twitter, you can find all the problems that have been happening, but from what I read, they only had 2! concessions open for the opening game yesterday. People missed majority of the match waiting in extremely long lines (some say up to 100 people) for beer and other concessions.
Jay Heap and owners even had issue with BJCC.
If BJCC drops the ball during the NCAA Tournament then they really need reexamine their fan experience. Projective Stadium and the renovated Legacy Arena are such great venues and can bring pride to Birmingham, but they need to run it right. If they can't find any workers for concessions, then do some small charity and let local schools run it and give them a cut.

Legion is even giving people $10 voucher to help people come back after the disaster.

With all the different venues in BHM, from BJCC, to Crossplex and UAB facilities, you’d think there would be enough concession workers wanting more shifts. Maybe someone needs to start a concession workers pool that all of these venues pull from to fill job openings.
Also, I agree with volunteers. Parents are used to running concessions at their kids home games anyway, let groups volunteer for a couple thousand donated to their group, league or team. Plenty of other places do that, Talladega, even Atrox runs off of volunteers.

The city of Birmingham allows its employees to work overtime at events held at city-owned venues, including Legion Field and the CrossPlex. That provides a large number of available workers for city venues. The BJCC and Protective Stadium are not part of that arrangement so they are tasked with finding their own workers.

Has BIrmingham ever been good at running sports events? These things almost always feel like missed opportunities unless the Bruno team was involved. They had least tried to address fan experience.

BJCC and Protective Stadium are run by Jefferson County, not Birmingham. They may contract out, though. I think the Bruno team is intimately involved.

The BJCC is run by a board appointed by the Jefferson County Legislative Delegation. The Mayor of Birmingham and the Jefferson County County Commission President are ex-officio members.

True, but the point is its not something Birmingham has control of.

RE: BJCC / Protective Stadium
Well the BJCC is getting some huge games this week. Hopefully they don't implode or those fanbases will raise hell.

The city or county trying to run a business is a **** show, government is not capable of successfully operating any business.
