Louisville Rival's Premium board is saying that there's buzz for Chris Mack to return to coaching as the head coach at Georgia Tech.

Anyone else hearing this? If not Mack, who's being mentioned?

-- Came in at the height of the scandal.
-- Did pretty well considering.
-- Recruiting issues prevented solid success (due to NCAA moving like a snail on scandal issues)
-- One of his teams made it to AP#1
-- Had his best team poised for post season when COVID erased things.

-- Felt pressure to make staff changes to not miss tourney again
-- Which led to crazy Dino Gaudio firing/FBI issue
-- Suspended by U of L for how he mishandled Dino issue
-- Lost control of his team, and chucked it mid season last year.



He's young enough I figured he would come back to the game. He's a good coach, but was in a tough spot at U of L which he didn't handle all that well.


Could be a good fit at G-Tech. But I wonder who else the Jackets would be looking at.

Ooof. Sorry, GT. I hated the Mack hire from Day 1 at UofL. Even when he got us up to #1 I was getting Tubby Smith vibes from him. I will say, I was in the minority there. I never detected an ounce of authenticity in him when he spoke and I get the feeling his players felt the same way. Everyone else seemed to love him until that final disaster season.

It’s really har to replace 2Hall of Fame coaches and losing the Best AD in America, having the FBI, NCAA breathing down your neck, Other schools telling recruits We will get the death Penality and Then having Covid ruin Your best tournament chances since winning it in 2013. Just a cluster “F” and new AD having a choice with a winning coach whom’s Wife was from Louisville come in or Kenny Payne Whom at the time was sitting next to our biggest rival with No head coaching experience but had the support from a percentage of the fan base. The choice was a proven winning Head Coach.
Fans later got Their wish in KP after Mack but 4 wins is what happens when You have a high profile program that chose a Head Coach without any experience at it and half your players hit the transfer portal. Not KP’s fault but the whole process was a failure since Rick and Tom were forced out

No doubt he had a tough job. I still just felt like he was phoney. I personally wanted Mick Cronin both times our job came open recently. KP, I'm having a harder time getting a read on than Mack. I could see him turning it around but that's based on blind optimism and hope at this point.

All that aside, I'm telling you, there's just something not right about Chris Mack. Perhaps he just needed to be humbled and will come back firing on all cylinders.
