Xavier isn't in Houston's stratosphere
That's crazy. cmon. X would give Houston a serious game. They have a damn good team. Houston won't go that far, no shooters. D only takes you so far in March.
Houston has much better shooters this year than the Elite 8 team last year. Doesn't have the offensive rebounding that team had.
Shooters are comparable to the '21 Final Four team. Doesn't rebound as well as that team but better on ball defense
Grimes was the best shooter I remember them having.

You don't need good shooters when you rebound.

You don't think houston has shooters? I think you're really wrong on that.
Houston has some big time shooters. Their biggest issue is they take too many difficult shots, but they make them at a high clip.
Sasser yes, other than that meh. Any top 20 type team will hang with Houston. They won't be able to man handle more talented teams like they do the scrubs like us.
I think houston would annihilate Xavier. They would be Xavier's kryptonite matchup. X really struggles to defend and when teams slow them down and make them work. I just don't think x could guard Houston at all. If you settle for quick shots and let x play up tempo they can score with anyone.
Doesn't matter. They're unlikely to play (hope they don't because that would mean x made the sweet 16 or elite 8).

Xavier currently has 8 points in 11 minutes against Marquette’s 63rd rated defense. But I’m sure they’d light up Houston

RE: Houston Game Thread - AAC Semifinal
Who cares how Xavier might match up against Houston? Frankly, we're going to be facing both of them next year and for many years to come, and we should be more concerned about how the Bearcats match up with them. Not only with them, but also against other stablemates in the Big 12. Color me pessimistic, but recent history suggests to me that we have a bunch of mountains to climb and can't seem to find our way out of the foothills.

On the bright side, we just played our LAST AAC game...
On the not-so-bright side, it was yet another skull-dragging by Houston.

RE: Houston Game Thread - AAC Semifinal
Our experienced seniors were awful today. Even when Houston had several underclassmen in their lineup, we couldn’t compete. Couldn’t match their defense, their intensity, their pressure or their offensive or defensive schemes. How many times this year has UC started a game against better opponents and fallen behind by ten points or more in the first 5-6 minutes of the game. When that happens repeatedly, it reinforces the notion that we’re not ready to play or that we’re scared or easily intimidated. Very disappointed in the Bearcats performance today and the seeming inability of our coach and players to respond.

Why? "Disappointment" means that you "expected" something more.
This team is what it is. Look, just a few years ago, we were getting repeatedly shellacked by Houston by 40 points. This season, we played Houston fairly close twice and only got plastered by 21 in the last game.
It just is what it is. Houston is a Mercedes Benz. The Bearcats are...I don't know...a Kia?
I'm just glad the season is done. And, no, I'm not hoping for a NIT invitation. Time for the program to give everyone a bit of a rest.

Houston's All American, conf POY got hurt a quarter of the way through the game and they still dog walked us to another double-digit win. Embarrassing performance.

Too bad the Coach of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, Most Improved Player of the Year, Sixth Man of the Year, two Second Team All-Conference, and three All-Freshman players were still playing for the #1 team in the country.

It's more embarrassing that all of those accolades are for Houston and not us.
UC used to own Houston for decades.

Don't think we have to worry about Tulane stealing a NIT bid from us after how their season wrapped up yesterday.

LOL you double counted guys and said Sampson was playing.
Houston is very good, no doubt.

RE: Houston Game Thread - AAC Semifinal
Guys everyone expected this kind of season.
I am just as frustrated, but we have to wait this out. When everything went in Friday, I was worried that nothing would go in on Saturday. We were NOT sharp. TO’s and missed FT’s, etc. DDJ got fouled on one of his first shots with no call, and it just got worse from there.
When MANY wanted Mick gone, I kept reading that People would be fine with missing the tournament for a few years in exchange for a deeper run later. And if the next coach could not deliver, we would move on from him and start over again. Skyblade was against it. Levydyl not feeling as strongly IIRC, he was trying to bring some perspective to the situation. I wanted Mick to stay but was a little frustrated with some of his comments. We have no choice now, but to wait it out. Mark is right, the roster is flawed. I think the coach has flaws as well, but he wants to win bad enough that he will look in the mirror and make adjustments. He won’t have any choice after next year.

I think the question is, do we play the NIT as a reward for the seniors to have one last hurrah, or do we play it to give the younger players the most court time possible?

It’s not like a bowl game. I’m sure Coach would keep everything the same. Just like it has been in the regular season.

Didn't watch the game, but saw Houston shot 31% from field without Sasser. Just one game and I'm sure they are adjusting without Sasser, but this was my point. Not sure they have the shooters overall to make a deep run this year.
