Wasn’t me. A UNT fan was mad at one of our fans. After the game he slipped down in front of us during the hand shake and threw his drink on our fan on the first row and it also his coaches wife. He was escorted out. Then another one went after the same fan and two of us had to step in between them. The cops took over.

For the most part their fans have been great when I have interacted with them. Just a couple drunks.

Last season play back - North Texas lost to Louisiana Tech in the semifinals of the C-USA Tournament as well. The halftime score was LA Tech 21 - UNT 13. The final score was 42-36.

I confess... I was at the movies watching Ant Man during the second half... I watched the game my phone. It was very hard to keep quiet :)

Final thoughts:

Defense won this game. For about 10 minutes, it was the best defensive effort of the Kennedy era. Nobody out of position, locked in. Great rotations and recoveries. Didn’t even let Perry get off shots. Flat out terrific. Hard to sustain that for 40 but overall it was a really good effort from start to finish.

Can’t say enough about Javien. We need him to bring that same energy and activity against FAU.

We showed a ton of poise other than the hiccups on inbounds at the end. You knew UNT would make a run and get their crowd into it. Jelly and Eric played under control, mostly, and showed a lot of growth from where we were a few weeks ago.

Tavin was terrific on defense too. Great to see him finish so strong at the rim. We need him big today. I suspect he’s going to draw Johnell Davis assignment a bunch today.

Going to miss KJ Buffen. Yeah man he occasionally drives me nuts with the tech energy but he is a warrior. He sat half the game in Boca. I hope he is fired up to be a difference maker today.

UNT is a very good program and I am glad they are coming to the AAC with us. I hope they can keep their coach and keep building on their success.

Javian Davis was outstanding in game 1 against FAU and good in game 2. He has had some success against this team.

Jemison only had 1 rebound in the first game against FAU. Buffen rebounded well in both games.
