RE: Article About Texas Tech Job
Following the coaching carousel is one of my favorite things to do. I haven't really seen anyone mentioning AK for jobs besides The Athletic (though they've done it a few times). I'm just not sure anything is going to open this season that'll intrigue him enough. Clemson seems to be keeping Brownell, and I think he knows what a bad job GT is. Him leaving does seem weird to me, he has his house in Hoover and his whole family lives here (his family section is like 20 deep on gamedays). I understand getting 4x your money elsewhere but I feel like he's pretty happy here. At the worst I think he may see how the AAC shakes out before making a move.

Really my worry is what move we'd make if he did leave. Bob Ritchie was flying nicely under the radar at Furman until this season. He would have been a perfect match. Bucky is starting to get hype for bigger jobs, but I watch a good bit of Samford hoops and I'm not sure if I'm a believer.

Didn't AK make a Brinks truck full of money at ole Miss after all those years?

Is money his main motivator? if we win tomorrow, the AD needs to double his salary anyway.

isn't he like 54 or 55? Got about another 6-10years left in the tank. Why leave for another conference mid-tier school ? That school probably won't get to dance and you are always under stress to win or get the boot.

Rick Pitino is 70 and about to start a new job.

Sighhhh

I'm just having a hard time buying that AK would leave for Texas Tech. I'd be more worried if he was in talks for an SEC or ACC job... but I guess stranger things have happened.

Wondering if all this is to get a bump for him and his assistants. I just don't see that marriage. Someone with more time than me do a comparison on the new AAC salaries please.

I think that job is McCasland's to lose.

I can't imagine a Big 12 job of a school that was in the finals just a few years ago is going to hire AK, if anyone watched us get blown out like that on Saturday. Not complaining about AK, but I gotta believe they have candidates with better optics than that.

Seems like that would be a weird fit. He's never worked in the area or conference. Also seems like they would be able to hire someone more high profile. At least McCasland makes sense from a geography standpoint and has a Big12 experience as a Baylor assistant.

Maybe AK's just trying to use this for some leverage? He did just get a new contract last year though.

I'm with you. I like Andy and want him to be here, but I don't think a Big 12 school is going to hire a coach who's currently in the NIT and got smoked by 1,000 in their championship game.

Clean Gene got smoked by ‘1,000’ many times & still got offered/accepted the Ky job. Lol

Destination job, as in a place that a coach can retire? Probably not. But I think AK has shown how easy of a job this can be for coaches to rehab or take the next step. If/when AK leaves I have no doubt that we'll have excellent coaches beating down the door.

As for the tweet - I have a hard time believing it's anything other than an agent play. Mills & McCasland make infinitely more sense for that job than AK. Though their fan seem kind of pissy about that and somehow think they should get Pitino.

He also had an Elite Eight banner hanging in the rafters. Lol. Rofl. TBD.

And forgot to mention the Final Four/National Runner-up banner Gene has had hanging in the rafters in Memphis. Smh.
