Nice crowd, less than 2 min. Started late after looking at a condo for my daughter 12.5 miles from Storrs, CT.

Should be a good final Flashes vs Rockets

Kent State vs. Toledo in the final, should be a great game and atmosphere for the MAC on ESPN2.

I hope the winner can secure a #12 seed.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed ESPN2 shows the game from start to finish.

Yeah, 2:15 minute games don't fit in 2 hour time slots.

RE: 2023 Men's MAC Tournament Thread
Toledo could be highly motivated as this would be their first MACC since 1980, which is hard to believe given Toledo has always had a consistently good program.

On the other hand, this is "same ol'" territory for Kent State, and they're used to being in this game and delivering.

So I wonder who has that edge in this one. Personally, I think UT finally does it.

RE: 2023 Men's MAC Tournament Thread
I hope that it's a down to the last shot type of game and KSU wins. It'll be the best chance for 2 teams going in. WAIT, two MAC teams?? That didn't happen since the late 90s when WMU got in!

My case for the Possibility of 2 MAC teams in this scenario for #33-AP TOLEDO to get in after losing and being 27-7:

First, there has to be "room" for it. 32 conferences, all champs go. So that means of the field of 68, 36 non-conf champs get in. Top 36 in the nation, right? Well, no, there's more than that, since some of those will already be among the 32 conferences. Of Conference Winners for each one, ideally for us......

POWER 6 & THEIR CONF CHAMPS: 6 RANKED TEAMS IN

HIGH MAJOR CONF CHAMPS: 3 RANKED TEAMS IN; 5 COUNTING #37 VCU WINNING, #28 UTAH STATE LOSING
AAC: MOST LIKELY #1 HOUSTON; POSSIBLY UNRANKED W/ VOTES MEMPHIS [LESS THAN TOLEDO]
A10: LIKELY VCU #37-AP
MVC: DRAKE WON [27-7] W/ 1 VOTE IN AP
MWC: MOST LIKELY #20 SD-State; POSSIBLY 26-7 UTAH STATE #28-AP
WCC: #9 GONZAGA WON

MID MAJOR CONF CHAMPS: 3 RANKED TEAMS; INCLUDES CHARLESTON JUMPING OVER #33 TOLEDO LOSING
SUMMIT: 30-4, #26 ORAL ROBERTS -- CONF CHAMP
CUSA: POSSIBLY #27-AP FL-ATLANTIC; VERY POSSIBLY 25-8 UAB WHO'S FAVORED AND *LOST TO TOLEDO*
COLONIAL: #35 CHARLESTON [NOW GOING TO BE RANKED OVER TOLEDO]
PATRIOT: COLGATE 26-8, 17-1 in Conf -- LOST TO BUFFALO -- CONF CHAMP
SOUTHERN: FURMAN 27-7
SUN BELT: 26-7 LOUISIANA

SO now, for the ranked teams who DIDN'T/WON'T GET IN AUTOMATICALLY -- and most will have lost this week after last rankings just as Toledo will for their Championship. ROOM FOR 36 TEAMS.

THIS IS ACTUALLY 32 TEAMS LEFT OVER W/ VOTES, OF THE REMAINING 36 NON CONF-CHAMPS.

So IMO, Toledo has a shot, as everyone else will have "lost" this week too, so the rankings shouldn't shift much. Toledo has to be the 36th team to get in. Right now, if you take away Conf Champs (and assumably conf champs) -- Toledo is 22nd in line.

And losing to Kent State -- who lost to 31W Charleston by 2pts, #1 Houston by 5pts, and #9 Gonzaga by 7pts -- as their ONLY non-conf losses, and winning the MACC game. NOT a bad loss.

RE: 2023 Men's MAC Tournament Thread
Toledo at 27-7 finishing the season 14-1, losing in the MACC Final, is a very good resume.

They'd be IN if we transported to the 1990s. But the MAC's been shut out of at-larges for so long now, it doesn't spark much optimism.

The last year the MAC got an at-large bid was 1999 when Kent State beat Miami in the championship game. Miami and Wally World got an at-large bid. And I believe they made the Sweet 16.

Toledo should be in because the NET rankings are biased towards P5 schools as follows: 1) All P5 schools start out ranked higher than mid majors. For example UofM was a top 15 team to start the season only based on reputation not merit. Ohio should have beaten UofM and would have on a neutral floor or their home floor. The schools that beat UofM in the B1G conference add to their net ranking by beating a fraudulent ranked team. Even terrible EMU almost beat UofM. 2) Most all P5 schools play their games at home giving them an unfair advantage. 3) Since P5 schools start season fraudently ranked highly to start season and because they play majority of their games at home, then they keep unproven high rankings to start conference play. This enables the P5 teams to add to their NET rankings by beating teams with artificially high net rankings and bolstering the winning teams net rankings.

Bottom line Toledo should be into tournament because they would beat a lot of P5 schools with better net rankings based on the biased ranking system. For example I would pick Toledo to beat Michigan State in the big dance if matched up.

The tournament should be expanded to include more teams.
