RE: Transfer Portal
Being reported that like half of the CMU team is in the portal now, including Bass, Zarzuela and others, in addition to Miller.

53 -91. That is what we built our 17 game win streak on. We lost to Kent twice, Ball, U of M Kansas City, East Carolina, and Marshall. If I’m right, none of these teams are in any major post season tournaments. This is not any freak….it happens every year and other higher ranking schools definitely take this into consideration when looking for a new coach. A lot is made about Dennis. He is a very good MAC player and I’m glad we have him. He did transfer down from a better conference and I wonder if had he stayed at Boise, would we be seeing the same stats. The same can be said about Sincere Carey and Xavier Castaneda. Both from higher ranked conferences .A-10 and the American. Plus, K hasn’t taken a school to the dance in 20 years! He might be a good MAC coach but that is about it!
If you believe the reports, RayJ Dennis is more than just a "very good' MAC Player who several Power 5 Teams in need of a Point Guard would love to have transfer to their programs. And to downplay Sincere Carry and Xavier Castaneda for transferring down to the MAC from The A10 and ACC respectively does not make sense to me. All they've done is lead Kent (this season) and Akron (last season) to The Big Dance. Your telling me that just because a Mark Sears plays in the MAC, he couldn't play at a Power 5 School and be a big factor. Tell that to Alabama this season!
I mentioned on another board: B10 guards and ball movement looks relatively indecisive compared to top MAC teams. K's players aren't generally holding the ball wondering what to do with it, once past Soph. year. Moss and Farmer are darn near complete already. That's a selling point.
Same question every sport: how to evaluate coaching MAC talent against MAC talent and how that will translate to the stronger conference.
The only question with K has been can he develop THE MAC talent to win THE MAC game. Not yet. In the B10 he's going to dance regardless. Nothing relies on having THE talent or winning THE game.
Their hiring committees are going to look at why he didn't win THE game and determine if that red lines him. They're going to determine can he recruit at the level needed to compete. Same as most are saying here, they're going to look can he recruit and develop power forwards and posts, not once every 6 years, but every year.
Looking forward to seeing Dennis and Carry perform this week against "Big 10" Point Guards per their Tournament games against Michigan and Indiana.

And if they are competitive, is it enough to overcome what is perceived to be disadvantages in the post. Both B10 centers are outside capable and inside very capable but both B10 teams also lost inexplicably to what would seem to be lower talented teams. I've talked to and read quite a few IU fans that are very tentative. They don't expect Kent to be a push-over. I think they're being realistic.

This monster they created is not sustainable IMO. It's going to destroy conferences like the MAC eventually

And the crazy thing is — I’d much rather watch a game with top half mac teams than big 10 or name your p5 conference. Big 10 basketball is a snooze fest. Just seems like a terrible brand of basketball. Like some of the offenses are operating in wet cement.

Sad to see, but welcome to the world.
I recall when Kaufman-Renn (Purdue) went down with injury in high school, Jacobi more than adequately filled the void. I have to believe he has DI capability SOMEONE good can use. If you can replace the guy that replaces Edey, you're no slouch. I can't believe how bad Evansville has gotten. If we don't, they must need someone like Jacobi.

I wonder if TK would be interested in BGSU Rashawn Agee 6-7, 215, muscle bound forward who is in the transfer portal.

Since coaches can come and go as they see fit, simply buyout contract and jump to a new program at any time, I don't care if players have the same ability - as they should

Probably depends on the school, but football in general likely has more financial draw to donors over the course of the whole country.

He shouldn't be...kid does not play very smart ball at all...not sure if any of that was on Huger though.
Also, the new BG coach could bring him back as well...that happens from time to time.

Wouldn’t want him except as an 8-12 minute guy giving our 7 footer a breather.
BTW, Congrats to the Falcons, the last team in the MAC still playing. Nice win tonight.

Thanks, it was a perfect opponent for BG. A team full of short non-athletic guards. Teams with quickness, a low-post presence, and height give BG the most trouble. Unfortunately, Memphis has height and quick guards. They don't seem to get a lot out of the post, but they'll have a few inches on their defenders. Hopefully Hampton can be close to 100% by game-time. Either way, should be one of the best crowds ever in the Stroh!
