First starting G at UT since Juice? Were Sanford and Jackson starting G's as Fr?

Yes, Sanford and Jackson were both starters as freshman.

Yes, Sanford and Jackson were both starters as freshman.

If my memory serves me, Soph. Stuckey Mosley actually was the Starting Point Guard on the 2015-16 team when J. Sanford was a Freshman and played the off guard during that 17-15 season. Sanford then took over the Point Guard duties the following season when Mosely transferred. As for Juice Brown, his Freshman Season, he averaged 11.9ppg. and 4.9ag. and led Toledo to a 19-17 overall record and 7-9 in the MAC. The other Starters on that team were R. Pearson, D. Buckley, C. Dennis, and M. Smith. M. Jackson’s 2017-18 Freshman Season, he started and averaged 8ppg. and 2.7apg. on a team that went 23-11 overall, 13-5 in the MAC and lost to Buffalo in the MAC Tournament Finals when MAC Player of the Year T. Fletcher was sidelined by injury. Other Starters on that team besides Jackson and Fletcher were Sanford, N. Navigato, and L. Knapke. Sonny Wilson's Freshman Season success will be dictated somewhat by how his surrounding cast (which is still somewhat unknown) performs!

Good recall... pretty much how my memory has it well with your solid refresher.

Jon Jon was a 3 or 4 year starter as well. Don't think he started as a Fr but I think he started for 3 years.

Go Rockets!

Who do you think the most important incoming recruit will be? I guess it's easy to say Wilson because we need a point guard, but I believe it will be Wight. He's an experienced front court player who will be ready from day one. He will be the only big with starting experience. We have a number of good guards, and one will probably be the starter at the point unless Wilson impresses immediately.

Sonny Wilson will be the point guard. Only true pg on the roster, future of the program, good player-he starts and while he doesn't need to be a star, having him healthy and playing his position fairly well as a freshman is the key to the season.

Second most important player will be Tyler Cochran. I think you will see him breakout big time this season. Won't always score a ton, but will be an all-mac guy and set the tone for how we play.

Maddox should be the leading scorer. Wight will likely score in double digits. Figuring out how to maximize his game will be crucial to how the offense runs.

I think we also see Grgur get important minutes and possibly make an impact. Not yet a complete player but too talented to not get on the court and learn by playing.
