CAA Women's Basketball Tournament
everybody always says headed into a conference tournament that anybody can win it...so of course i'm going to say anybody can win it. this time i really mean it. the first round seems mostly predictable. if we get delaware-towson, nc a&t-william and mary, drexel-monmouth, and northeastern-stony brook...i have a hard time finding a game that will be decided by more than 10 points.

losing on saturday wasn't ideal...but i'm hoping it helps us to get punched in the mouth right before the tournament. jasmine woke up and played one of her best games of the year. i'm not sure anybody is going to have a breakout offensive game we wouldn't expect. we are what we are at this point.

defensively...i think there's room for improvement and in a short period of time. hopefully we get hetta and maura to step up on that end. i know maura can be tough out there after she finished the penn state game with her nose packed to stop the bleeding. we're at risked of being overpowered starting with monmouth who scored at will in the 4th quarter against us.

i like being the #2 seed since it's a role we haven't been in lately. the target has been on our back for the better part of 2 years. we can go in with an underdog mentality which suits us better since we might not be the most skilled team out there...at least outside keishanna who is the league's most skilled individual player.

delaware is out. nc a&t in pretty big trouble vs hofstra right now. glad to see lower seeds winning after i said it would be a close tournament but then turned around and picked all the higher seeds to win. i was a hypocrite and am paying for it.

#5 NC A&T lost to the 12 seed Hofstra. NCA&T celebrated beating Drexel as if they just won the league championship, so I guess they forgot that they actually had a real tournament forthcoming. They were batting Drexel for first place all season long, so that was a real difficult ending to the season for them.

Stony Brook escaped.
Hofstra upset A&T
Delaware fell to Hampton
Monmouth pounded Charleston

Why stony Brook? I think they have teh size and skill to be a legit threat. And mostly because I dont think we go on a big run with our faults. We may not escape Monmouth.

W&M up 5 at half. Hofstra was up after 1 but W&M figured things out and Hofstra likely getting tired.

RE: CAA Women's Basketball Tournament
I’m most disappointed we didn’t really develop individually or as a team this year. Some players even seemed to go backwards. We never got multidimensional and it seemed we were content to let Keishanna shoot almost 30 shots/game.

I’m worried about next year. Might be Coach Mallon’s toughest test so far. She’ll have to transition to completely her own roster and sustain the program. I still believe in her…but would feel a little better if we hadn’t let our senior pg turn the ball over 9 times.

Not a good game by us, no doubt. The other top seeds all advanced. We need to get big. Hiroshima is right, next year is going to be really tough and a huge challenge for Amy to see what shes made of.

RE: CAA Women's Basketball Tournament
It was a dissappointing loss, but is anybody really surprised. I think we all saw this coming for the past few weeks. As I mentioned before, this season has all the makings of Gaby's senior year in 2010. Both started off with a 1st place prediction and a promising start and it all fell apart toward the end. Dragons will get at least one more game in the WNIT, but unless they get a weak opponent to start like they did their last few times in the tournament, they appear headed to an early exit.

This team just didn't come together as many of the teams the past 4-5 seasons.

RE: CAA Women's Basketball Tournament
Yeah disappointing but not surprising unfortunately. Felt like I saw that game a few times this year.

I was impressed with Riley Casey yesterday. W&M started out like 0-12 from 3 and 4-24 overall. She put her head down and started driving. It kept them alive until the shots started failing. Not enough teams are willing to do that these days…Drexel included.

RE: CAA Women's Basketball Tournament
we've had conversations this year about fan support. it was essentially non-existent last night at towson especially after you took away athletic department staff. monmouth had an enthusiastic group. a row of them spelled out hawks. honestly i thought delaware's smaller group at the dac last year ran the place.

i think this speaks more to people giving a wink and a nod to the women's program...and women's sports in general...like they care about it when they really don't. that's not going to change overnight. we're spoiled to have a program that almost always plays for the title so maybe more people were planning to come down saturday. honestly i had other plans if we lost in the semis but not in the quarters. it's not shocking i'm on my couch watching vcu...but not what i was expecting for sure.

dan...you came in from indiana last year so i'm not talking about you. i'm not talking about the students either. our core fan base is small enough on the men's side and even smaller on the women's side so i'm not sure how many people i expected. we deserved better. i planned vacation time about a year ago to be down there yesterday.

i wasn't going to say anything until i watched kei's press conference with coach mallon. she deserved better.
