May was a student manager for the Indiana University men’s basketball team and after graduating, he began his professional career as an administrative assistant/video coordinator at USC from 2000-02. He returned to Indiana in an administrative role for three seasons before taking his first step as an assistant coach with Eastern Michigan (2005-06). He has also served as an assistant at Murray State (2006-07) and UAB (2007-09).

His brother, Brian White, became AD at FAU in 2018 and hired
Coach May.

We need to have an AD in place to hire our next football coach in a few years and to fix the basketball program. Then when we have an AD in place we might resurrect our basketball that has been in a coma.

I was just thinking if EMU can luck into a great basketball coach like May someday and thinking maybe it is less luck but more skill. For a school to be great, the school has to position itself for greatness by hiring the right people. For sports it begins with a great AD. At some point, hopefully not for several years, Coach Creighton will get promoted or retire an EMU Eagle which may overlap the same time we’re hiring a new basketball coach. Hopefully when that time comes we have an AD like Gene Smith or Heather Lyke captaining the ship.

And their opponent, San Diego St, is coached by Brian Dutcher the son of former great EMU coach Jim Dutcher. Love the match up of two mid majors in the final four. And love their connections, however remote, to EMU basketball.

So was May an assistant under Coach Ramsey?

This is a shocker.

Nothing shocks me with regards to the portal.

Word around A2 is that Hunter was butt-hurt about Howard and Bufkin attracting more NBA attention than him.

I'm guessing he is a "free agent" looking for the best NIL deal.
