RE: BG Fires Huger
I don’t know if the term “downsizing” really applies to Savage! Been out of Toledo for 58 years but what I remember about the seating was that the upper tier was not very conducive, safety wise and game enjoyable wise, to remain. NJ Mikes arena here at Rutgers has the same configuration. It is so steep that just going out to get a pretzel is dangerous. Since joining the BIG all of the BB games at RU are sell outs, so I don’t think the fear factor is a deterrent anymore.

Sure, but they did reduce the seats for a basketball game for 9,000 to 7,300. Which kind of bolsters my point, that the seating size isn't the be all and end all when it comes to the success of a program...or even atmosphere in a building which can help your home court advantage. Decrepit old Anderson was clearly a better home court advantage than the Stroh will EVER be.

The upper east side of Savage is mostly the same. Even the same seats. They did take some of the lower older seats to make a Rocket logo. Most of the seating loss was from creating premium seating and loges on the west side. I never got the feeling like I was falling forward in the uppers. Now Ohio U is crazy. You really do feel like you're falling forward.

And you can tell that from the televised games at OU. The main camera angle is horrific.

I’m an old guy. Was a student when the Old Field House was in operation. Never been to Anderson Arena but I thought the Field House was a great place to see a BB game. I can’t Remember going to a game when the place wasn’t packed. Games that come to mind….stayed up all night to get a ticket for the TU Dayton game. We didn’t win that one. Another great one was against Drake. Unfortunately we lost that one too in OT. Probably one of the best was BEATING a BG team with Nate and Howard Komives.

So has Etim and Turner, as a graduate. Good, blow it all up.

ESPN's Pete Thamel is reporting from sources that Bowling Green is targeting Southern Utah coach Todd Simon to be the school’s next basketball coach. A deal is expected to come together in the upcoming days. He's won 20 or more games three-straight seasons there.

Should be an easy get. Who would blame the guy for trying to escape this for bowling green?

Interesting career path. Made HUGE leap of faith and investment in himself, going from High School Varsity assistent to volunteering under Paul Westphal on the other side of the country.

I'd say their AD is making a good bet here. Obviously not adverse to moving around though. Any success at all is buh bye

He's from a small town northwest of Lansing...so he's basically coming home.

Yep, saw that in his wiki. Could be a reason, particularly if parents getting older. Moving them to dry and warm air when you make as much money as a college coach is also an option.

I suppose I'm projecting. I wouldn't move from there to BG on a basketball coach salary. With his record, too many options. CMU might not be a long wait. If you all get him, I think it will be a good get if he can keep some of the assistants.

These announcements are quite interesting...and certainly signal that this is a done deal. I guess both of these guys were on the radar of SUU, but have just announced offers from BG while BG supposedly doesn't have a coach...LOL

They're also both in the Top 50 of JUCO transfers.
