The irony about this should not be lost on anyone.
tech has screamed with everything they got how rules should be followed to the letter of the law to get what they want, and now that these rules has worked against them they all mad and want everyone else to be mad with them. you cant make this stuff up. why would that other team come back and play another day for a game the rules already allow them to win? and yes they should be disappointed that POTENTIAL win was taken from them. lets remember the game was not a done deal.

Yeah. And I'd be pissed too if I were LT but everyone was enjoying laughing at them so I didn't want to ruin their fun.

Actually what I like about this situation is that they both look bad. Old Piss could have easily bumped the start time and they could have covered the field. They chose to do neither even when it was being requested. They were losing after having lost the day before and saw a way out. Simple as that. Sucks but they followed the rules but not the spirit of competition. latech get an L and whines a lot. Win-Win in my book. Now I have to put up with them coming up here to Fayetteville next weekend. I don't root for the hogs a whole lot but when I do, they are probably playing latech.

If that’s true, tarp or no tarp, the game wasn’t going to resume. Ole Miss’ decision there was suspect to say the least had the rain cleared, but it didn’t matter in the end because it didn’t.

From Tech’s official statement, quoted in the 2nd link:

So LT’s not mad that the game was stopped or when it was stopped. They’re mad that Ole Miss isn’t interested in inviting them back to play 2 1/2 innings of a Wednesday, non-conference contest because LT came out on the short end the first time.

Again, yeah, it sucks for the Bulldogs and I can sympathize, but dem’s da breaks. Something similar has happened to everybody somewhere along the way. It’s not some big travesty of justice. Nobody has a moral obligation to accommodate an opponent’s desire for a do-over.

I think I'd rather see a no contest than awarding the game to someone with less points. If they can't finish, then the game didn't happen. One more W isn't going to make anyone's season. But one more L can certainly mess up a chance at post season.

If a full inning is played after 5 innings then yeah, stop the game and award a winner.

That sounds just a whole lot more fair.

I actually feel bad for Tech. What a dumb rule and since Ole Miss is the hosting team that falls on them. We can't cheer when things like this happens from P5 schools. Had it been the other way around Ole Miss would have made sure the game continued on.

Yep.. The way I understood it, a win could've hurt their RPI and chances of getting into a regional and a lost would've guaranteed it.

Still can't figure out how a team that got put out first round of their conference tourney still made the regionals.. Wasn't like they had an outstanding record.. They did get hot at the right time though

But that’s exactly what they did. The 6th was completed. The 7th was not.

You can argue to not start the 7th at all, but a) you can’t predict either when lightning will strike or how long it’ll take to get 6 outs, and b) if you don’t start the 7th, LT never takes the lead in the first place, rendering the whole thing moot.
