RE: MAC MBB Bracket
Honestly one of, if not the most fun men's basketball teams post Lux and Brown. Which is a low bar- but still.
love having a team heading to the conference tournament with the chance to at least cause some chaos.

Not only did Covid cancel the MAC & NCAA Tourneys, but it also got MaddDawgz cancelled also.

I do also believe things are looking up but just four years ago we were the 4th seed with a legitimate chance to win a MACC. The year before that I think NIU was in the semifinals and fought back and lost a close game. Every year is going to be a completely different team for the majority of colleges so fingers crossed we continue next year to progress.
That highlighted portion was in your dreams.
When you say "every year is going to be a completely different team for the majority of colleges" that may be true for the majority of ALL college teams, but there are perennial conference contenders and we were never in that category under mediocre Monty or pitiful Patton.
NIU was the 4th seed, had their all time leading scorer as their PG, and the year prior they narrowly lost in the semifinals to Bowling Green. They also were going to play the 12 seed Miami in the quarters after they upset the 5 seed in the play in round.
They absolutely had a realistic chance to win the conference tournament that year. It was their best chance to do so in 20+ years.

I honestly feel people are putting way too much emphasis on that Illinois-Springfield game. It was definitely a bad loss no matter how you dissect it but it was also the first actual game of the year with a team that was gutted with injuries and sickness. We had 7 guys play (Youngblood played 3 minutes...so, 8 guys...either way). We also had new guys who really hadn't played together and David Coit shooting the ball from all over the place completely out of rhythm with the rest of the team (29 shots attempted).
Again, it was a bad loss but it looked like a loss the coaching staff was able to use as an example of what not to do but also there was the caveat that guys were out (Nutter, Ibarguen specifically but also Konan and some others) and the team had yet to actually gel together. Crump was our big man that game although Duro played a lot as well (he kind of had to with no other bigs available).
So yeah, it was a bad loss but not one that I ever thought was defining of what the team was.

Yes, obviously, the coaching staff was able to turn a negative into a positive. Congrats to them for that and for the entire season. Well done!

It wasn't just the Illinois-Springfield loss at home, it was the Illinois-Springfield and University of Albany losses at home.

And before the loss to Illinois-Springfield was the exhibition too close win against McKendree.

It doesn’t take money to have a positive outlook.

What does money have to do with it? Me not betting on the game doesn’t mean I’m not allowed to believe NIU will win! I’m also not betting on Kent St to win either.

It doesn’t take money to have a positive outlook.
It takes money to delineate between a "belief" and a hope.
