The metrics rank Memphis as the 12th best team in the country since Feb 1st...
According to Torvik metrics, since Feb 1 we have been playing as if we were the 12th best team in the country. (Torvik is increasingly being cited as a reputable metric database with the likes of KenPom etc.)
One added feature with Torvik that KenPom does not have is that you can customize the date range. In theory this gives you a little more accurate representation of how a team is playing currently. I imagine if KenPom had the same feature, it would be close in line with Torvik since they basically use the same analysis.

That's a mirror of last year. After Williams returned from his back injury, we were number 10 per Torvik during that stretch.

Playing good ball! Glad something/someone outside 901 recognizes it.

We just don’t blow anyone out and apparently that’s the only thing that matters this year
Next year it will be something else

Blowing out teams is one of the most important factors per the NET which has been the case since they created the NET. Next year it will be the same, just like it was the year before, the year before that, etc.

A few people have been citing scoring margins (blowouts) as a factor, but I haven't had time to do much in the way of research. I do have a few questions.
What is considered a blowout? I think the NET caps margin of victory at 10, correct? Does the NET factor in margins above 10?
Does quality of opponent matter when it comes to blow outs? For example, if we beat North Alabama by 25 this week, and then next week beat Cincinnati by 25, does the Cincy blowout factor in more than the North Alabama blowout?
Does number of blowouts in a season factor into the equation? A team like Gonzaga blows out a lot of their lesser conference opponents and as a result their average margin of victory this year is nearly 15 points. On the other hand, Memphis which plays in a tougher conference and faces better opponents has an average margin of victory of 7 points per game. Does the NET give Gonzaga more weight than Memphis because they are beating opponents by 8 more points per game than Memphis?
Thanks!

Blow out isn't formally defined and it doesn't really matter. I use it as a convenient way to describe a large margin of victory. The way the NET works, it rewards point margin in an unlimited fashion and is quadrant agnostic. More specifically, there's a metric that's inordinately weighted called NET efficiency which factors margin of victory in the calculation and doesn't account for quality of opponent.

Not at all. Blowing out Houston would give the same boost as blowing out North Alabama.

Absolutely it does.
