FRIDAY MEN BB-- GAME MOVED TO NOON?????
Hey, anybody out there that can verify tomorrow's men's basketball game is being moved to noon?

My son pinged me as I was coming down for dinner and the game with him and he heard from a friend in the department this moving the game is in the works.

How big of a storm is DeKalb expecting---my son says the forecast is for maybe 2-5 inches.

I certainly can't get there for a noon game and won't miss dinner with my son, but was looking forward to a game.

Site says 7:00 pm still.

Anyone?

RE: FRIDAY MEN BB-- GAME MOVED TO NOON?????
If this a Chicken Little post---didn't mean to cause any issues---just seems weird to change a game to noon on a Friday at the last minute. (I do understand that E Michigan has to travel back post game, but getting around Chicago and the lake at 3-5 pm has to be a lot worse than at 11 pm---barring 15 inches of snow).

It has been. I called to inquire about getting refund/credit for tomorrows games since my family all has come down sick and they informed me there is no sickness cancellation policy but that the game has been moved from 7pm to noon and they are refunding tickets to those who can’t make the game due to the change so since I’d have been unable attend either way they gave me the refund.

Thanks 99---hope they all feel better. Guess I will be missing the game. Glad you got the refund.

RE: FRIDAY MEN BB-- GAME MOVED TO NOON?????
Thank you. I also posted in the other thread about tomorrows game because I haven’t seen it shown anywhere either.
Here the copy and pasted email I received after speaking to them.

Hi Robert,

Unfortunately we don't have a cancellation/refund policy for sickness. But we did actually end up having to move the time of the game from 7pm to 12pm. So we are offering refunds for those who cannot make it because of the time change. Because of this, I'm comfortable going ahead with the refund based on the fact that you wouldn't be able to make the game.

I will process the refund today, and you should see the refund for $40 hit your account in the next handful of days.

Thank you and Go Huskies!

I assume it's because of the anticipated snow, but did they officially give a reason why the game time was moved?

They have that season ticket holder appreciation thing in the Victory Pub. I doubt that many season ticket holders will be able to attend a game at noon. Who knows if they'll even have it?

BTW, I'm a season ticket holder and have not received any notification about the time change.

Now STF wil have less people to ignore at the Season Ticket Holder Appreciation Extravaganza. He must be relieved, a full room of people to ignore definitely puts a strain on his Ignoring Super Powers.

Thanks all. Just seemed odd I got word from my son before our athletic department could make a notification. (or maybe that's not odd)

Here's hoping the men/women can spring an upset or two next week in Cleveland.

Just got the e-mail notification:

Due to travel issues and safety concerns, the Northern Illinois University men's basketball regular season finale against Eastern Michigan on Friday, March 3, has been brought forward to a 12 noon CT tipoff. Tickets for the originally scheduled 7 p.m. start will be honored and NIU will hold its Senior Day ceremonies following the game.

RE: FRIDAY MEN BB-- GAME MOVED TO NOON?????
I expect the Pup Club event is cancelled, since it was also tapped along with the Appreciation event per this game ... Note also that according to Victor E. Mail it IS the Victor E. Pub: "Pup Club Day this Friday will commence at 6 PM in the Convocation Center. We will be hosting a pre-game bash for Pup Club Members that will run until 6:30 PM where we will then direct members to the court to greet the team upon their on-court entrance. The bash will take place adjacent to the Victor E. Pub located on the west side of the arena ... "

... also according to Convocation Center marketing, which is unaware of any name change, or who put up the banner.

On the other hand, NOTHING this A.Dept. does surprises me any more, especially when it comes to branding/marketing.

I guess all I can say is that no one on the Dog Pound should ever complain about Athletics' efforts on branding and marketing. Complaints should never include the quality and accuracy of official website press releases, the information printed on tickets, ticket distribution, or changes in the levels of ticket pricing, seating arrangements, premiums and fees. All posts on such issues should automatically assume perfection.

I am sorry to upset you but it is easier to complain from the outside when you don't know the problems on the inside. You and others have admitted the budget difficulties and yet you look for things to complain about. Every time you see a problem with NIU go ahead and complain but at the same time put a few bucks in a jar to send to NIU. Just maybe those dollars you send to NIU will solve the problems you and a few others complain about.

Give me info about NIU athletics not complaints about administrators.

GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been putting "a few bucks in the jar" for five decades (and know there are others who've done more). I also don't "look for things to complain about" like it's some kind of carnival contest. I post these things because this is one avenue long-time fans have to make the need known for Athletics to act/look like a Division I program, even though the budget is well short of that. I've written, called, spoken with "officials" and done all those other things too. If I (and others) can see these things, so can anyone else. It's not a good look, and it happens too often. I refuse to be an apologist; many of these things can be fixed without great expense. They just aren't.

Now ... anyone want to talk about NIU-EMU?

Pantone gets it. We are NIU fans. Knocking NIU at every opportunity isn’t cheering on the Huskies. Always easy to second-guessing criticizing the cheap seats. Tried to run a division, one program with division two money
