I always wondered why Shaq did not shoot free-throws underhandedly. He was a career 52.7 percent charity line shooter. Not good. He should have taken a cue from the legendary Rick Barry.

That would have required a lot of effort to retrain. Shaq was phenomenally talented, he's a borderline top 10 all time player, but it was not due to his work ethic. Some of the other all-time greats were well known for their phenomenal work ethic, but Shaq is the only one who was well known for NOT having such a work ethic.

I don't know anything about Shaq's previous modest work ethic. I assume he passed on learning to shoot underhandedly for the same reason other players have over the years: they feel the motion looks "ridiculous."

And that mindset is absurd. You don't get style points in hoops. Ugly scores are points nonetheless.

Shaq could beat me if he were 85 in a wheelchair, let alone now or in his playing days. I’d be lucky to hit the rim.
