RE: 2023 NIU and MAC Football Schedule
I'll be curious to see the SIU crowd. For ISU there was close to 15K. For EIU(sat. game) close to 17k. Im sure there are logistics, but I'd schedule all the schools with large Chicagoland alumni fan bases.

This admin tried, all be it pretty patheticaly, to draw NIU alumni from Chicago(land). Doesn't work. But drawing the alumni from other schools to Dekalb might work.

Our alumni showed up in droves for the last NU game, the Orange Bowl, our Soldier Field games, hoping the next AD can change the culture back to Dekalb-friendly as well.

That tells me the destination is a bigger issue than the travel. NIU alum need a nicer location than Dekalb if they wanna watch their old team I guess..idk. Embarrassed??? Im sure SIU alums just find the 2 hour trip to glorious dekalb way easier than the 6 hour trip to carbondale.

We don't need a "nicer location than Dekalb", we need a nicer location in Dekalb. Need some real stadium updates, the downtown hotel/apartment project, and an increase in students to take back some of the low income housing. Hopefully soon some of this occurs.

Absolutely, but I don't see the real stadium upgrades coming in the near future - if at all. There are no fundraising campaigns targeted at specific upgrades, and I do not foresee any on the horizon. I think the best we'll see is emergency repairs and perhaps mini improvements.

Have you seen how large lottos are getting nowdays? We've been buying a ticket before the mega pulls. As well as counting on one of the alums to make a sizeable donation should they win.

Don't you worry guys. Hope is on the way.

If I win the big one (before I drop dead from the big one), millions will be headed to DeKalb to upgrade the stadium to P5 status with all the amenities. I will add a retractable roof for which I will be the sole judge of when it gets retracted or not. (Hint: It will only be retracted on absolutely perfect weather days - of which I will be the judge). I will have heating and air conditioning systems installed to meet our comfort needs. Lastly, I will purchase naming rights for the Convo, and I will request that the golf cart be named for STF and prominently display his photo.

I want the naming rights to one of the urinal troughs. I will insist that people who have imbibed on Schaefer Beer during the game be allowed to use this sacred trough.

Are you talking about the EIU game this past season that our silly athletic department moved from a Saturday to Thursday?

This athletic department really makes some super questionable decisions.

I am still pissed about that game. My group of 4 was planning to attend a nice Saturday game with 2 of our friends joining us. Those plans were canceled when they moved the game to the weeknight. Let’s see if they move the SIU game this year to a weeknight, which I totally anticipate.

That stupid Thursday night game drew 10K. It was a few years before that debacle, but still after Garrapolo graced our stadium.
