And the only one that stands out as a head scratcher to me is Oklahoma ranked at 28?? That’s the problem with human polls is we get used to over ranking the blue bloods even when they aren’t that good after a big coaching loss. So Sooners in the 40’s-50’s would be more appropriate/accurate.

It's hard to understand Houston football in light of their potential. Look at the Coordinators and position coaches that are final candidates for major programs. Holgersen is doing something right by either identifying coaching talent and then hiring that coach or perhaps it's developing coaches. Outside of the 4th quarter, it is difficult to come to grips with their record. They clearly have the coaches and players. Maybe the issue is the head coach. Either way, the Coogs will have a difficult first year in the Big 12.

Fresno State will be the last G5 rep in the NYD Bowl in 2023. Although not officially Big12 yet, it can have at least an asterisk appearance in the BigXII book of achievements.

But seriously, doss2. Thanks for gathering the rankings. It puts everything in perspective to me. In that, even though nobody seems to want Fresno State in their (so called) “power(?) conference(s)”, we still kick most of their butts on the football field. Even with so much less tv revenue. It’s the American crony capitalist way. I get it. It’s not based on merit.

My guess would be that the voters expect Oklahoma to rebound after their worst season since 1998. It's a program that isn't known to flounder, therefore they expect Oklahoma to return to some degree of relevance in 2023.

Personally, I would expect them to drop plenty of games this season much like they did in 2022. This is Brent's first head coaching job, and even if it's Oklahoma, the Big 12 conference has never been a cakewalk.

I would not take CFN too seriously, they are HEAVILY biased on their rankings favoring the SEC. SEC teams are probably 1-14 in their polls.
