Ticket Challenge between Fort Worth and Houston
Quote:Texas Mayors Set Bowl Ticket Challenge
Fort Worth & Houston Host Each Other's Universities

Dec. 15, 2005

Fort Worth, Texas - The "Lone Star Mayor's Challenge" has been set between Fort Worth Mayor Mike Moncrief and Houston Mayor Bill White.

Will more Houstonians attend the Fort Worth Bowl at TCU's 44,008-seat Amon Carter Stadium or will more Fort Worth residents attend the EV1.net Houston Bowl at the 69,500-seat Reliant Stadium?

This idea was sparked by Texas State Senator Kim Brimer, a Board member of the Fort Worth Bowl and an ex-University of Houston football player. Mayor Moncrief and Mayor White have agreed to participate and hope that their citizens will join them in supporting their home teams.

"Both mayors endorse the challenge to promote the two bowl games and create a buzz surrounding each event," said Fort Worth Bowl Executive Director Tom Starr. "Both mayors are big-time college football fans and they are interested in promoting this oddity of having universities from each other's city playing in their respective cities."

"Houstonians are proud of the Cougars," said Mayor White. "We'll support them all the way to Fort Worth and back."

The third annual Fort Worth Bowl welcomes the University of Houston as the Cougars challenge the University of Kansas December 23 at Amon G. Carter Stadium. Kickoff for the nationally-televised game on ESPN is set for 7 p.m. (CST). Houston's Reliant Stadium entertains TCU as the Horned Frogs play Iowa State University in the sixth annual EV1.net Houston Bowl December 31 at 1:30 p.m.

"I know that thousands of TCU fans from Fort Worth will travel down I-45 to Houston to celebrate a New Year's Eve victory for our Frogs' 11th win this season," said Moncrief. "We hope that University of Houston supporters will be at Amon G. Carter Stadium eight days earlier to cheer on the Cougars."

Fort Worth Bowl (http://www.fwbowl.com ) tickets are available online at http://www.UHCougars.com or by phone at 713-GO-COOGS. Ticket information for the EV1.net Houston Bowl is available on the TCU web site (http://www.gofrogs.com ) or by calling 817-257-FROG.

That's cool now if we could get them to support us in Houston, we would not have attendance issues.
