Basketball Season Ticket Holder Appreciation Nights
On Wednesday and Friday night, season ticket holders for women's and men's basketball (respectively) will be treated to an alcoholic drink and food in Victory Pub. This is a very nice thing. Too bad this isn't on a weekend, but I understand why they'd want to do it at the last home games.

In recognition of all that you do for NIU Athletics, we invite you to join us for Season Ticket Holder Appreciation Nights at the Women's Basketball game on Wednesday, March 1 and Men's Basketball game on Friday, March 3.

In lieu of the 6th Man Grill in the South Lobby, enter the Victory Pub on the West end of the track and check in with a staff member who will provide you with a ticket good for one complimentary alcoholic beverage.

Cookies, coffee and hot chocolate will still be available, in addition to a complimentary buffet.

Please! No hot dogs for this important event! I'm sure it will be more like cocktail weenies in mini French buns. Of course, they'll still run out after serving the second person in line!

I heard you can sit at a table with STF where he will ignore everyone all night.

I would really look forward to that, but there will most likely be someone sitting in my seat when I get there.

I thought it was called "Victor E. Pub?" (Similar to Victor E. Gym.)

No, it’s the Victory Pub.

RE: Basketball Season Ticket Holder Appreciation Nights
Then somewhere along the way they made a name change from the traditional Victor E, as in Victor E Court, Victor E Gym, Victor E Bash, Victor E Mail, etc.

Original announcement of the Pub, thread created by Dog Fan, 1-8-2020, subject "Victor E. Pub Opens This Saturday." First post comment was "A new drinking lounge area, Victor E. Pub, will be opening on the West end of the Convo beginning this Saturday."

Following was a copy of the official statement: "Victor E. Pub will be located on the West end of the Convocation Center track and will be open when gates open an hour prior to tip-off. The area will feature $2 drink specials. Victor E. Pub will also have a full service bar including mixed drinks and a unique drink for each game. The area will also have comfortable furniture and high top tables to make your viewing experience at Huskie Basketball games more relaxed and enjoyable. Victor E. Pub will be open this Saturday, January 11th when doors open at 12 PM for Women’s Basketball, which tips-off at 1 PM, and will stay open through the conclusion of the Men’s Basketball game, which begins at 3:30 PM."

I had to look this up because I never heard/read it called "Victory Pub." Maybe since then Victor E. Huskie became a teetotaler.

BTW, this is not about you, DF. It's about a brand or sub-brand commonly used in the Convo and on the official website.

Don't know when or why they changed it. Maybe naming rights were purchased by Victory Auto Wreckers.

RE: Basketball Season Ticket Holder Appreciation Nights
Could it be something as simple as someone asked to write the announcement of the appreciation event spelled it "Victory" because they didn't know better? Recall those ticket misprints you posted about.

No, there are signs at the Victory Pub that say "Victory Pub". They decided to change it for a reason. Just don't know the reason.

So that means the Pub is pulled out of Victor E branding. Terrific.

RE: Basketball Season Ticket Holder Appreciation Nights
I called Convocation Center marketing, and the officiaL name is Victor E Pub. The person I spoke to was unaware of the "Victory" use, any name change, or why it happened. They suggested a typo. But you said there was signs with the name change. So there may have been a name change and Convo marketing was not told. Again, terrific.

Regardless, these continuous inexplicable flubs are what cause many of us to doubt the simplest actions of our illustrious A.Dept. Why bother with branding? I still favor "Dog Fan hot dogs" being sold at Huskie Stadium. Why not?

They probably changed it because someone thought it was bad to have alcohol and the mascot linked together
