No, until last season, Kent State mens BB fans hardly ever thought of you. I’m serious…

I feel more pity for Toledo fans than anything. 43 years since their last trip to the big dance.

On a more serious note, I'd imagine Buffalo, Kent, Ohio, & Akron are all more hated than Toledo. Depending on metrics one wants to use, all those programs have been more successful over the last 5, 10, or 20 years.

Personally Kent irks me because they've had our number. So does the Gervin Center in Ypsi as it's been a house of horrors over the past decade or so.

Just was curious. If somehow UT got to the dance for the men and women (10% chance probably), would Rocket fatigue set in soon?

Buffalo had a run in mbb and wbb together that was getting close to exploring AAC options. At least among folks here.

Basketball, no, never. Can't say I've ever hated anyone in the MAC for basketball.
Football I hate losing to Toledo on par w/ NIU, CMU, & EMU. Football I also view Toledo as only alongside NIU in terms of dominating the MAC the past decade or 2.

in fb I view WMU, Ohio and CMU on another level with fan support when they are good. Particularly CMUs student and Detroit area support. NIU has tempered down a bit lately.

Before you irritate us “with fatigue” you have to win one tourney championship. You’re already talking dynasty. Absolutely ridiculous…

Toledo has the most MAC wins last 10 years because it plays in the much weaker West Division. If they played the East opponents 2x per year I highly doubt they’d have the most wins these past 10 years.

Perhaps if the MAC wasn't a perennial one-bid league they might mean something???

I said we always choke in the OP lol. It's a choke to our own fans that we can't get the final step achieved. It's not a dynasty in the slightest, but a top 10 mark nationally for the men, and top 3 with men's and women's WINS combined since 2021.

We had a round robbin 2x schedule for 2020, and the last 2 seasons divisions have been gone. 2 of the 3 total losses to either of Akron and Ohio just came in Cleveland.

Buffalo owned everyone for a while, so no shame losing to them during their Hurley, Oates run (5-0 since they've been gone). 2 all league starters were out vs. them in the finals in 2018.

Kent State has been our bugaboo for sure.

I've always looked at Akron and Kent as a basketball school growing up.

I'm still amazed we received the entire glorious U.P. for that crummy town.

Since 2018 Toledo is
5-5 vs. UB
7-3 VS Bg
8-1 vs. Ohio
11-0 vs. Miami
8-2 vs. Akron
3-6 vs. Kent

42-17 vs. East (even though schedules became even with no divisions since 2020).

10-2 vs. CMU
8-4 vs. EMU
9-0 vs. WMU
8-3 vs. NIU
5-7 vs. BSU
43-16 vs West.

Teams to end our season in this time period have been NIU, UB, Akron and Ohio. Covid ended early. This season has 2 old West teams remaining.

No slant toward divisions at all.

I'm not in the regular season boasting camp actually. I agree they are meaningless until you make a deep run in the consolation NITourney. On a single season basis they mean nothing whatsoever... But looking back a track record of players who win 25 games a year is a staggering stat, which we are coming up on some impressive longevity.

If not for a 3 game tourney, where the MAC is not sending top 2 seeds on a yearly basis IMO is doing it wrong.

Luckily depth at the top of the league has been okay where the MACs rep still can win a game in the big dance if they are in the top 5 or so seeds with a top 130 NET.

How could anyone hate on a school whose only two entrance requirements consist of are you breathing and do you still live in your mom's basement? Now to be fair, you only need to meet one of the two to get in but if you meet both you're admitted into the honors program.

I never was much for basements.. as for Bowling Green athletics? They're quite used to them.
