The NIU Convocation Center has been open for 21 years. We're still a baby when it comes to our neighbors.

Also...I don't know why its taken so long but a company willing to just give the athletic program money would be super nice.

I know people had their hearts set on Amazon or something but Monsanto makes the most logical sense but that company is evil so they probably don't want to give any money away.

I didn't put 2 and 2 together when you mentioned Monsanto, but to have the flying corn cob painted on the roof of the Convocation Center would be awesome!

Bayer bought the DeKalb seed division from Monsanto in 2017.

Monsanto is gone. Bayer bought it.

In September 2016, German chemical company Bayer announced its intent to acquire Monsanto for US$66 billion in an all-cash deal.

After gaining US and EU regulatory approval, the sale was completed on June 7, 2018.

But they still use the name Monsanto, right?

Not that I am aware of.

Didn't know Bayer bought all the entities of Monsanto. That has to make Bayer one of tge largest Biotech companies in the world.

My bad. Yup, you're right. I did have to look it up. They have a facility in my home town and I'd seen it so many times, I didn't even realize the name had changed (imprinted or something).

RE: Convo Naming Rights
The following big corporations grace DeKalb's south side industrial area: Meta DeKalb Data Center, Ferrara Candy Co., Panduit, 3M, and the Target distribution center, among others. There's a lot of money there. It's pretty sad that NIU can't get one of these corporations to part with some money for naming rights. Or even a sizable donation for stadium improvements.

Yep. Athletics does such a great job getting sponsors for every basketball and football play. ("And that's another Raising Cane's Texas Toast turnover!") Too bad that can't go a little further.

I prefer Canes over Chick-Fil-A. Have you tried the Texas toast?

Although I agree. Popeyes equates to using an entire roll of toilet paper.

No, I've never been to Cane's (or Chick-Fil-A). I prefer to eat wholesome healthy food........like the Convo Center pure meat (with filler) hot dogs - that is, when I can get them.

Wouldn't food from the Athletics dept follow a Fasting Diet and exercise? Since you would need to run to concessions for any hope of obtaining an item, only to be left empty handed when they had nothing to sell you. And you can't leave, since they don't allow for reentry.

Rumor has it the convo dogs actually come from the old wrestling gym mats. Health conscious fans will prefer these dogs because there is very little meat in those gym mats.
