Got the win and that's all that ultimately mattered. But...

Injuries and depth (one leading into the other) are hurting this team in the 2nd half of games.

This team expends a lot of energy and when there isn't a reliable 9 or so guys to rotate through, it takes a toll.

Also, not having anyone other than Thornton right now that can lead the point got exposed today as CMU actively took him out of the game in the 2nd half. Having just one of either Williams, Coit or Russell alleviates this problem.

And when Thornton wasn't able to handle the ball as much, it led to disorganization and bad/early shot selections and on occasion by guys (Youngblood and Plintauskas) who realistically wouldn't even be in the game at that juncture.

Also, I still laugh at the thought that Konan is somehow on punishment but I do find it intererstring that Burno clearly isn't comfortable with him in the game when it's nut cutting time. He played 6 minutes and it all came in the 1st half. And personally, I thought he played well. So, I'm not sure what it is. Especially when both Ibarguen and Durosinmi are battling with fouls.

With that said, Coit was a great recruit this year but can it be overlooked just how important bringing in Ibarguen has been on this season? He's a great find by Burno.

I for one figured he was a late walk-on who was nothing more than a practice body. But he's an integral part of this team, for sure.
[/quota

Ibarguen is certainly the most improved player as the season progressed. Crump (other than free throws) is the most improved from last season. He has played out of position and for a big man helped us bring the ball thru pressure up the court either inbounding the ball or dribbling up court like the two guards who are injured.

I was happy to see that Burno tried to substitute as much as he could. Although he had to because of the foul trouble (see my comment on MAC officiating).,

Rest up, get Taku(?) and Drew minutes, support these guys when you can and hope for a possible great result in Cleveland.

GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I feel like this is the 2nd time you (or someone) has mentioned the name "Drew". Are you talking about Drew Wiemers? Because...no.

RE: MBB Huskies @ Mt. Pleasant
Huskies should not and I don’t believe they will go into rest mode! If Coit can play he needs to get some minutes in to get his shot and energy back. It’s ok to give Youngblood and Plintauskas some more minutes but not a crazy amount more. Huskies need to win these last two home games if for nothing else to feel good about playing at home. I haven’t seen Williams at the recent home games has anyone seen him?

I don't always get to see the games but I haven't seen him either but sometimes the guys who aren't dressed are behind the bench or maybe in the locker room doing treatment or something and the camera just doesn't catch them. Fwiw, sometimes I see Russel and sometimes I don't.

I'm pretty certain they didn't travel with the team. I watched pretty closely today and didn't see any of the injured guys on the bench.

What I mean, and you didn't get, is that if Drew is on the court we have got the win wrapped up. Now that we are going to Cleveland we need to keep the core healthy and the bench players invested and improved with play under pressure.

Indeed a great addition to the NIU team. But he does have the unique inability to make an inside the arc jumper. Drives me nuts. I would assume the team keeps stats on that and he must make an occasional jumper but he misses them so often I don't recall him making one! But weirdly he is a decent 3 pt shooter, but can't make a jumper. The only one on the team who is a good jump shooter is Williams.

Weird, ya just got through saying the seed doesn't matter. The 6 seed will be decided tonight playing Buffalo. We beat Buffalo we are 6th seed, we lose we are 7th.
Prior to our stunning collapse against Miami I thought we could beat Buffalo at home. That game erased my delusion. We can lose to any low ranking team at any time. Our ability to beat a good team is not good.
And the odds are out this morning - we are 2.5pt underdogs, at home, to Buffalo!
Vegas bets we lose.
Place your bets - get in the game!

Actually Nutter is not a good 3pt shooter at 23.3%. His fg% is 41.9. I think you say he is a bad jump shooter only because lately he has been missing them late in the games. Maybe it is tiredness? I don't really know.

Wow! Well, you almost got your wish. With 2 players already fouled out and everyone else with 4 fouls, the TV announcers were correct in saying game better not go to overtime! Drew might have HAD to play the entire overtime.
To go one and done in Cleveland is a fail. But the Vegas odds will favor NIU going one and done. Someone has to lose. Guess who?
Resting players for Cleveland is a fool's game. Tonight's game prime example - should NIU play to win or play for Cleveland? If you can't beat a 6-8 team at home what are your odds at Cleveland!

Wrong. From day one I have noted Nutter's inability to hit a jumper. Nutter is good driving to the basket. Nutter will make a 3 pointer before he makes a jumper. Made 3 pointers are good, missed jump shots from inside the free throw line are bad.

I said, I think the Huskies will end up as the 6th seed. I never said that I thought it matters what seed they end up being.
