MBB Huskies @ Mt. Pleasant
1pm central on ESPN3

NIU 10-16/252 NET....CMU 8-18/316 NET

Huskies hope CMU plays like they did Tuesday in their 35-63 loss to then 12-15 Buffalo. The Chips were 0 for 13 from behind the 3pt line (we can relate to that), they had a FG% of 29.8 and had 23 turnovers.

But on the bad side if Coit, Nutter or Williams don't play that is 45.9 points out of our lineup. Sure, someone is going to fill some of those points, but if not, Hunter is our leading scorer at 8.2 pts per game.

Hopefully we win big, but if not, hope we lose big so the rest of the bench can spell Hunter, Crump, Thorton and Ibarguen. If we can sneak out another road win we certainly can rest the core the next two games.

GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Personally, if we don't win big, I'm hoping we win close.

But I could be in the minority with that opinion, I suppose.

Another 'must win game'. We have lost 4 of our last 5 games so we are certainly backing into the MAC tournament. Going into the tournament at 7 seed is better than than going in at 8 seed is what this game means. CMU sucks; do we suck more is really what this game means.

Why is going into the tournament better as 7 seed than 8?

For the exact same reason going as 1 seed is better than going as 8 seed. You earn your seed. That and 8 seed plays 1 seed. Oh wait, are you the guy under the delusion we can beat any team in the MAC; except Miami at NIU when we are up by 20 points with 9 minutes left in the game?

Yes I believe a healthy Huskies team can beat any team in the MAC on any given day. I see no difference between being the 7th seed instead of 8th seed. In both scenarios you would be about the same underdog and while it would be a huge upset in either case, that’s why they play the games you never know!

I know it's ESPN + so shouldn't expect much but this broadcast crew and sideline reporter have been painful

Sideline reporter is embarrassingly bad. This second half is just awful to watch……the clunkiest basketball imaginable. It is like watching PE class basketball.

I don't watch other college basketball of other conferences. So my question is all ncaa officiating as bad as MAC officiating?

RE: MBB Huskies @ Mt. Pleasant
Got the win and that's all that ultimately mattered. But...

Injuries and depth (one leading into the other) are hurting this team in the 2nd half of games.

This team expends a lot of energy and when there isn't a reliable 9 or so guys to rotate through, it takes a toll.

Also, not having anyone other than Thornton right now that can lead the point got exposed today as CMU actively took him out of the game in the 2nd half. Having just one of either Williams, Coit or Russell alleviates this problem.

And when Thornton wasn't able to handle the ball as much, it led to disorganization and bad/early shot selections and on occasion by guys (Youngblood and Plintauskas) who realistically wouldn't even be in the game at that juncture.

Also, I still laugh at the thought that Konan is somehow on punishment but I do find it intererstring that Burno clearly isn't comfortable with him in the game when it's nut cutting time. He played 6 minutes and it all came in the 1st half. And personally, I thought he played well. So, I'm not sure what it is. Especially when both Ibarguen and Durosinmi are battling with fouls.

With that said, Coit was a great recruit this year but can it be overlooked just how important bringing in Ibarguen has been on this season? He's a great find by Burno.

I for one figured he was a late walk-on who was nothing more than a practice body. But he's an integral part of this team, for sure.

Great to get the win today. We are watching a legit program being built before our eyes. Nutter as a Sophomore has so much upside for the next couple of years. Love watching him slash to the bucket with such body control. If he becomes a solid 3 point shot guy look out as he will be really tough to guard.
