2023 CAA Tournament
Figured I would put a thread here for both men and women to discuss anything tournament related.
Men are locked into the 5 seed. We are the only team who has a set seed going into the final games tomorrow. We will face Hampton/Monmouth/W&M winner and be on the same side bracket as the loser between UNCW and Towson tomorrow.

Im the opposite. I was crazy unimpressed with UNCW. I think that is a better matchup for us than Towson. I do understand Skerry's awful tournament record, though. So I can understand why folks would want Towson.

I am going by Drexel beat Towson and I think UNCW has the experience to close out games post season.

RE: 2023 CAA Tournament
If I did the tiebreakers right, the night games decide four seeds. The Towson at UNCW winner will be 3, and the loser will be 4. Delaware and North Carolina A&T will be 6 and 7, with Delaware being 6 if they win at Elon, and North Carolina A&T being 6 if Delaware loses at Elon.
Given how Hofstra played against UNCW and Towson, I agree with dan10, and I am rooting for Towson to win. I do not want Hofstra to have to beat great rebounding teams Charleston and Towson.

Towson was down 11 at half but ended up winning in Wilmington. So Towson grabbed the 3 and UNCW the 4. We will face the winner of Monmouth and Hampton first

RE: 2023 CAA Tournament
i always want drexel to win no matter how down i am on the program. it's just the right thing to do.
but...if we can't win it...hopefully charleston can. the league needs a flagship so that hopefully one rising tide can raise all boats. ideally they would have run the conference schedule and stayed ranked. that way we could have potentially gotten 2 bids. we can't keep sending teams with double digit losses who get 15 or higher seeds.
if they get in...hopefully they win a game or 2. the caa needs somebody to get their act together and dig them out of the cellar.

I am with you, definitely want Drexel to win. But if we dont I dont want us losing in the championship game. If we cant win Id rather us have the clear 2 best teams facing off for tv and the bid.

I do not want a 15 or higher seed, but beyond being a Hofstra fan, ESPN gives Hofstra a 13 seed. Rankings of all 363 teams agree that Charleston is the best, but the gap between Charleston and Hofstra is smaller than the gap between Hofstra and third. Charleston would probably get 1 or 2 seeds better than Hofstra, and every other CAA team would probably get at least 2 seeds worse than Hofstra. Furthermore, in addition to winning, conferences and teams get known for having stars, and Aaron Estrada is a lot more likely to have the most points on either team if he plays in the NCAA Tournament than anybody on Charleston is. The individual NCAA Tournament moment by a CAA player I remember was VCU's Eric Maynor's shot to beat Duke in a 6 vs. 11 First Round game in 2007. Towson and UNCW are the only other teams with a chance at better than a 16 seed. If Hofstra or Charleston plays in the NCAA Tournament in Des Moines (two and a half hours away from me), I want to go. Every other CAA team would have so little chance at winninng that I would not go. In 2019, which was the only time I went to an NCAA Tournament or postseason in any pro or college sport, very high midcourt seats for a Second Round doubleheader cost about $200.
http://stats.statbroadcast.com/broadcast/?id=459211 will have statistics.
https://www.flohoops.com/live/49165 will have video. Monmouth says the announcers will be Matt Janus and Monika Moore, so a woman gets to broadcast the CAA Tournament. I wonder how many announcers there will be over the course of the Tournament.

Monmouth up 55-34 at half. Shooting a blistering 63% for the half and 8-11 from 3. Hopefully they are getting it out of their system before tomorrow.

RE: 2023 CAA Tournament
Monmouth won 100-64 to break the CAA Tournament record for margin of victory. It was a margin 1 greater than Georgia State's 85-50 win over Hofstra on March 2, 2012. It was the first CAA Tournament game in which both teams scored square numbers.
