Vincent yanked after an infield RBI single.

Cienfuegos in.

Top of the order will be up in B9.

Hopper off Vincent’s glove makes it 3-1. Another pitching change. Cienfuegos in to stop the bleeding.

Now it's over. 3-1 final. Good win.

Cienfuegos gets the called strikeout. Should help his confidence.

Solid pitching tonight against a team that was hitting .350 after its first four games.

I'm guessing Linskey is either starting or being used for long relief this weekend since they didn't go to him after Brogdon tired. Luckily they didn't need him. McCracken with a really solid bounce-back after being super wild on Sunday.

I didn't think Brogdon tired. He should have been out of the inning with a shutout had Gallo not made the error. Couldn't believe Jose brought in Vincent in that situation. He must see something in Vincent that absolutely no one does. Thankfully, Cienfuegos ended it.

Linskey went 3.1 innings on Sunday. I don't think he was available tonight. Rodriguez looked solid and Raj looked good once again. Not sure why he pulled Raj so quickly. McCracken looks good against left-handed hitting, but he can't throw strikes against right-handed hitting...and he already has 2 throwing errors and could have had a 3rd (when he threw the pickoff ball into the OF).

Important win as we head into the lion's den in Palo Alto. Stanford lineup is a murderers row. Everyone is back from last year and they added a Freshman who already has 4 HRs.

I know they went lefty-lefty with Vincent (and he was going against a good hitter - WAC player of the year last season). So yeah, Brogdon wasn't tired but he also had close to 40 pitches and you'll need him this weekend too.

In any case, good win. Scratching out 1 win this weekend would be even better.

Good win. Pitching came through. We just need a pure hitter and some speed.

Yep. The Cardinal won their opening series @CSU Fullerton (who were picked to finish 5th place in the Big West Conference coaches' preseason poll. (https://dailytitan.com/sports/baseball-l...87dd5.html )

Sunday's game was the most spectacular. Down 11-6 going to the 9th inning, Stanford scored 15 runs in the next 2 frames to win 21-13 in 10 innings. (https://gostanford.com/sports/baseball/s...core/38137)

Fullerton led after the first inning in each game.

On Tuesday, Cal jumped out to a 4-0 1st inning lead off Stanford's freshman pitcher Toran O'Harran and beat the Cardinal, 8-4, in a non-conference game. (https://gostanford.com/sports/baseball/s...core/38125) Stanford pitchers struck out 13 Bears, but Cardinal batters grounded into four double plays and still left 7 runners on base. (https://gostanford.com/news/2023/2/21/ba...o-cal.aspx)

In their preseason poll, Pac 12 coaches picked Sanford to win and Cal to finish 8th in its 11-team baseball league. (https://pac-12.com/article/2023/02/08/st...aches-poll)

It looks like jumping ahead early ... and staying ahead :-) ... would be a good strategy.
