No sign of them on the future non-conference schedule, but plenty of open slots after this year.

RE: 2023 football schedule released
I grew up in SEC country with my regular collegiate games being Bama-LSU, Bama-Tennessee, Auburn-Georgia, and Auburn-Georgia Tech. I never found the atmosphere at HRS to compare, except when LSU came to town. After aTm got to be good the atmosphere at Kyle Field got to be very good too. I never really found the atmosphere at DKR-Memorial Stadium to be much, I think in large part because there’s really no place around to do much pregame tailgating, so folks just come and go without getting adequately lacquered up beforehand. I actually think UH home games in the dome had better atmospheres, probably because the dome reflected the noise back, and also because the Coog band did a lot of showy stuff. The rest of the SWC—Arkansas, Baylor, SMU, TCU, and TT—really never brought that many people or that much enthusiasm.

I have heard that the SEC is "urging" its members to avoid playing G5 schools - either P5 or FCS.

I’ve heard the AAC is urging that we all stop using the G-word (and the P-word) altogether.

No more P6?

It seems so:

Quote:...we no longer want to give credence to that grouping’s exclusionary nature.

It appears that Aresco is aware of -- and trying to combat/reverse -- that the "The American" (now 2.0) is declining in media/$$ attractiveness:

Quote:The meaning of “Power 5” has been degraded in the current playoff and realignment environment. ... It is time to retire the P5 moniker and shift the focus and nomenclature to the ten FBS conferences. ... (W)e will now adopt a generic power brand in lieu of Power 6, or P6, branding, as we no longer want to give credence to that grouping’s exclusionary nature.

LOL!!

I actually think he’s trying to take a victory lap for getting the 6+6 playoff model adopted after the PAC tried to bait-and-switch it to a P5+1G5+6 model. Aresco was the only one to speak out publicly against that (he had some P2 Allies) and took a stand and the 6+6 prevailed.

The principle of the thing is that all 10 conferences start the season on equal footing, and the 6 highest ranked champs are in the playoff. PAC wanted to formalize P5 and AAC successfully fought it.

Ironically given it's Rice and Tulsa ... 7 1/2 months is also about the average duration of a Todd Graham head coaching stint.

That's going to play heck with the rest of the season having to play other games while the Tulsa game is still in progress.

New recruiting approach? Plenty of playing time for everyone!

I see now that the Texas game has taken over the long-play paradigm:

Sep 2 (Sat) - May 31 (Wed) 2:30 P.M. CT
at Texas

... while the Tulsa game has been shortened a bit:

Oct 19 (Thu) - Jan 1 (Mon) 6:00 PM (AAC)
at Tulsa

(from the same URL as above: https://riceowls.com/sports/football/schedule)

Is there any website proofreading?

No, we will need to wait for that sweet, sweet AAC money in order to procure those services

Sure! It’s done by the Parliament.

The real question is why doesn’t the Athletics Dept. webmaster correct the mistakes we point out?
