I attended the game last night and saw a great college basketball game. In my opinion, Marshall has the '
most talented team in the SunBelt and is capable of winning two or three games in March Madness,
depending on the region and seeding.
Not many teams have the size and depth of this Marshall team. I think #24 is possibly the SunBelt
Player of the Year. That kid can flat out play. And, #0 is a great guard. Throw in two 7 footers who aren't
just big guys with concrete shoes and they are extremely difficult to defend.
The biggest difference in the game was the 7 footers length and ability to keep the ball alive on rebounds.
Their bench is extraordinarily deep. Very little drop off, if any when they substituted.
I was a little perplexed on our insistence on continually driving into the teeth of their height? I think it was
the type of game where we actually needed to rely more on our three point shooting.
Our boys played their asses off. Just came up a little short. Two plays in the last minute made the difference.
The foul line violation on Tak was a killer and the out of bounds call giving them the ball on our end of the court.
I enjoy the game in spite of the loss. It was a great college basketball game.
100% - i dont get the bitching on here. that was a great game. we played very well, we lost to a better team. we needed to play near perfect to win it and we almost did. that is probably as much as i have enjoyed a loss. two great teams playing at a high level - i can live with that.
im not sure they are the better team, its pretty evenly matched IMO. I do think they are slightly more dangerous in the tournament as they have more size than us, but in our matchup i think its pretty evenly matched
Kinsey and Taylor were the two best players on the court Wednesday. We are deeper, but their top end talent is better.
how different would it have looked if mezzie stayed out of foul trouble and defended Kinsey? maybe that makes a difference.
I like our chances vs. Lousiana better than Marshall, but wouldnt mind another shot at Marshall. I love the way the herd plays and it resulted in an awesome game.
Like I said, two best players on the court. Two best players in the league.
All-Sun Belt First Team
Jordan Brown, Louisiana (Jr., F – Roseville, Calif.)
Taevion Kinsey, Marshall (Sr., G – Columbus, Ohio)
Andrew Taylor, Marshall (Sr., G – Corbin, Ky.)
Isaiah Moore, South Alabama (Gr., G – Temple Hills, Md.)
Austin Crowley, Southern Miss (Jr., G – West Point, Miss.)
when 40% of your minutes are coming from two of the best in the league and they are seniors, you have a very good team. they will be tough to beat.

JMU already beat ‘em once on their floor. Dukes can beat ‘em again on a neutral court. Only need 3 Ws to make the dance.
Go Dukes!
PS: Should JMU enter the NCAAT sporting a 24-10 record, would the 24 Ws be the most in JMU history? I’m under the impression that 23 Ws is the current record.

Ok! Thanks for the research.
That’s the goal then. 24-10 entering the NCAAT, then (at a minimum) add a couple more Ws to make the Sweet 16 and set a new win record at 26.
