Im sorry you can't track the discussion. Let me help. Hammock came in saying he was going to recruit using a different philosophy than what NIU had previously been doing. I didn't say that. Hammock did. He said he was going to recruit "P5 size". After 4 years of his new-style recruiting it's time to evaluate how that is working out. And how else would you evaluate a new philosphy's effectiveness but by comparing it to the old one? You follow?

That's all this is. It's not about Carey. It's about the recruiting styles of the past vs Hammock's new style. It just so happens that Carey was the last NIU coach who was using that tried and true NIU recruiting philosophy. I swear people freak out anytime someone says the C-word.

I’m no fan of Hammock’s recruiting / grabbing from the portal. If what he recruited is size, I’m not impressed. The guys I saw on the field last year looked small, and they were overpowered. The final season record tells the story. And certainly the backups were no bargain.

This should be a make or break year for Hammock. Time to crap or get off the pot. Unfortunately, he is tied in with a strong contract, so we’ll have to live with him longer. In the perfect world, he would need to show positive results this year or it’s bye-bye.
