After 2,000 meters of the women's 5K, Lina Spjut is in 6th place.

Don't know what happened, but after the next lap, she dropped to 22nd place.

In the men's high jump, Ese Amata clears on his first attempt at 2.09 meters (6' 10¼"). He's now in 1st place. Only 3 jumpers remain - the other jumpers have 2 more attempts at this height.

There must have been an earlier error in the timing, because the final results of the women's 5K show Lina Spjut finished in 8th place in 17:19.37.

Only 2 left in the men's high jump. Ese Amata and Jakub Belik of UTEP. The bar is at 2.14 meters (7' 0¼"). Belik clears on his 2nd try to take the lead. Ese has one more attempt.

Ese does not clear, and will finish in 2nd place.

Qualifiers for finals today (counting the heptathlon). Charlotte 14, North Texas 10 & UTSA 10, MTSU & UTEP 8, Louisiana Tech 4, Rice 2

The Owls should get some points in the shot put, so maybe it's enough to finish in the top 5?

Qualifiers for women's finals today - Charlotte 13, Rice & UTEP 8, UTSA & MTSU 7 (FIU just 1). Charlotte should also get a lot of points in the 3000, so they will win. FIU will get some points in the high jump I think, but it seems like it should come down to Rice and UTSA for 2nd?

In the men's mile, Elliot Metcalf finishes 3rd in a time of 4:08.31. He really went for it with 400 to go, taking the lead, but 2 others were just too fast. Great race for him. Davis Thames was 10th.

Rice will have 3 in the women's mile - Amelie Attenborough (who ran a great 1200 leg on the victorious DMR last night), along with Caitlin Wosika and Ava White.
