WBB Game 26: @Delaware
Need a bounce back game. Delaware has not been good but these games are typically a war. Cant see us losing 3 in a row

Great win today at the BOB and much needed. Kei was dominant again with 40 while spending most of the game at the foul line. Delaware was out of control with their fouls.
This Drexel team kind of reminds me of the 2010 team. That was Gabby's senior year and the year after they won the championship. Drexel was picked to finish 1st that year, and seemed to be on pace for a good season until they hit a brick wall. The season fell on Gabby's shoulders and she got tired and the whole team got tired. That team was 17-8 and 11-3 in the CAA. The ended up losing their last 4 regular season games to fall to 7th place. They got the 4 seed due to some forfeits to other teams as I recall. Lost to freshman Delle Donne and Delaware in OT in the quarterfinals, somehow still got a WNIT bid, and lost to ECU at the DAC in OT. So that promising season ended on a 6 game losing streak. I kind of fear this season is heading in the same direction.

Always nice to get a win against Delaware. A road win for this team was big as well. Delaware is down, but I thought this would be a tight game, and it really wasnt for much of the game.
Kei is getting all of the press, and rightfully so, but we have big underlying problems still. Always nice to be getting prime exposure nationally through social media (Posted by ESPN on at least facebook and twitter)
ESPN link
But ultimately we should be concerned. She scored 60% of our points and took 46% of our shots and had 55% of our made shots. That is not a recipe for success. No other player scored double digits. I have been saying for much of the season we need to find someone else to score, but it still rings true in a bad way. Kei is not an EDD talent. Kei will have off games whether it be foul trouble or shooting trouble. When she does we lose, its that simple. With no other options you live and die by her performance, which isnt fair to her, but is a huge gamble, especially in a tournament setting where you win or go home with multiple games in a consecutive days. Expecting 3 straight days off going crazy is not something I would put my money on. And if she does manage to pull off that remarkable feat (certainly possible) then I would fear a really bad outing in the NCAA because at that level, any team we would be playing will be able to take her out of the game and make others beat them. We have not shown that would be a good day to be a Dragon. To JB's point, I also dont think we hold onto the top seed at this point

One other thing about this team compared to Drexell WBB teams in the past. This team seems to be built with more of an inside presence. Valentine, Hodges, Saatman..these are players Drexel didn't really seem to have in the past. Before it was all about the 3 point shooting. But this team doesn't have a 3 point shooter, except for Kei. Maura used to be a great 3 point shooter, but she reminds me of Coletrane on the men's side. Neither can buy a 3-point shot right now. By relying on just one player to get the job done, they just don't have the look or feel of a championship team. OTOH, over the last 4 years or so, the team that seemed least likely to win a championship, the 2021 team, was the only team in that group that actually did win one, so stranger things can happen.

The other side of the coin is that it is hard for others to get consistent if they dont get the opportunities. And opportunities are pretty thin with the sheer number of shots Kei is taking.
