RE: UC Baseball
I saw a few innings of today's game on +and the Bearcats were leading Northern IL by 12 runs. Having looked in on a couple early games on ESPN+ I'm puzzled about how poor the production is this year. They have gone to a single, high camera behind home plate. You can't do baseball well with a single camera. A simple pickoff play at first is dizzying as the camera jerks over there and misses the play after the fact.

Last season, there were at least two cameras, occasional close ups of plate appearances, some crowd shots, and plenty of screen graphics. All that on-screen info is gone too and that single camera is simply tilted and zoomed on the scoreboard between innings.

So, I'm just curious if anyone here is aware why the production value has regressed so much in the first Big 12 season?

UC was just no hit in their Big 12 opener at Kansas St. 4-0 final.

As for UC home game TV, I asked on another board and was told they don't have resources due to coverage of additional events and that it should improve when basketball season is over. But you are right even many much smaller schools use multiple cameras.

Bolded, thanks for that information.

I know increased expenses preceded increased revenue for Big 12 competition but it's a bit shocking that production quality on baseball, a revenue sport (albeit a small one), is poorer than it was in AAC days.

This is 2024. Kansas St. simply fielded all of our hits.

UC made too many mistakes yesterday and blew a good chance to win their first ever B12 series. They lost 14-13 in 12 innings.

Now 9-7, 1-2 B12.

RE: UC Baseball
Our Bearcats earned their first Big 12 home victory yesterday against Kansas in exciting fashion. Bearcat starter Tommy Boba carried a no hitter into the top of the ninth inning, only to be broken up by a bunt single. Most importantly, the bullpen finished the job for a 1-0 victory.

A side note: I also like what Nike has done with the baseball uniforms: traditional and clean looks with alternate choices including a red jersey with the C-Paw only and retaining the 1950's vintage home uniform withe the snarling Bearcat head. They looked great and the stadium does too with all those Big 12 conference flags encircling the infield.

Where I came from, breaking up a no hitter by laying down a bunt earns someone an ear hole in the next game. lol

Boba is the pitcher that gave up 4 HR's in the first inning at Coastal Carolina, so it is nice to se he pitched so well yesterday.

Wow. Usually at this point in the season we're 3-18.

Lol, it really has been hilarious to watch some of the early season records.

I think they went a bit easy on the OOC schedule this year knowing what they were walking into in the Big 12.

I'm glad we don't live in a time anymore where athletes are not such snowflakes where they have to intentionally try to injure someone when they get their feelings hurt. If you don't then to get a bunt hit, stop them from getting a bunt hit, didn't be a baby about it.

Who is the bigger wuss? The guy who doesn't believe in himself enough to fully swing a bat in a no-hitter or the guy who complains that wussy actions shouldn't have consequences?

I can assure you that you are incorrect. Also, good to know that you are also a snowflake upset about a bunt.

As the White Wizard always imparted the wisdom of The Valar, never, ever throw at a batter...it's better to aim right behind them...they reflexively step back into it .

RE: UC Baseball
'Cats are 13-9 and on a three game winning streak (including two wins over Kansas) after beating Miami OH yesterday in Oxford. I'll suggest that is performance above my modest expectations after getting hammered in the early season in recent years.

Kansas was held to just one run in those two losses, so there is some hope that pitching is improving and may exceed early expectations. Early performance suggests that Cunningham hired well with Coach Bischel.
