AAC Hosts More P5's....
Stolen from the AAC board. Credit to Side.Show.Joe

There are only 12 games where P5 programs are traveling to G5 stadiums, and the AAC is hosting half of those games.

AAC Hosting 6 P5 Programs

Alabama @ USF
Oklahoma @ Tulsa
Ole Miss @ Tulane
Miami @ Temple
Cal @ North Texas
Houston @ Rice

MWC is Hosting 4 P5 Programs
UCLA @ San Diego State
Washington State @ Colorado State
Vanderbilt @ UNLV
Kansas @ Nevada

Sun Belt is Hosting 2 P5 Programs
Virginia Tech @ Marshall
Wake Forest @ ODU

If Ingram is true to his word in talking to me in the GG room, they will begin looking at HHs with some P5s 2026 and beyond. He felt like we could get an SEC opponent or two. Mostly lower half of the conference. Possibly ACC.

It's about time! I'm sure more schools are interested in playing at Protective now too - gives them a chance to check out the stadium before they make the Birmingham bowl....

I'm hoping games against Mississippi State, Kentucky, and/or Vandy. As for ACC, bring on Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, NC State, Duke, UNC, Louisville.

...when you look back at the "1.0 era" of UAB football, primarily the WB years, we hosted a fair number of 'P5' or thereabouts at LF... Not sure why we couldn't get MissSt back in the mix, and I've always thought a H&H with Georgia Tech would be doable...

Two teams I want to get on the schedule and pound them are Kansas and Vandy. We owe them both ass whippings. Would love another crack at Wake. They sucked for so many years and we played one of the best teams in decades that year.

Would love to see HHs with the lower half of P5s from each conference. Increase attendance and get away from body bag games.

RE: AAC Hosts More P5's....
I’m afraid we’re getting close to being late, to start trying to schedule those games. Everybody in p5 want to add another conference game or 2 and then they’ll be talking SOS for at large CFP bids. These opportunities will have dried up before we ever tried to make it happen.

Hope to be wrong.

I agree on Vandy in particular. Do CFB fans really need to see them vs OU, Texas, Bama, LSU, etc? They have no benefit in expanding to 9-10 conference games. They need games like us, if they hope to consistently go bowling. Same for Ms st, UK, and the other fairly long list of p5 bottom half of their division dwellers.

I don’t think Georgia Tech wants any part of playing us in anything.

Georgia Tech ain't doing anything since Paul Johnson, but it would have been nice to play them

But Georgia State seems okay to play, I wanna see that Turner (Football) Field 03-drunk

I've been saying this for a while, we should be trying to play both of those schools in Football and Basketball every year. They are literally right up the road; no reason not to play the Atlanta schools. Could easily start a new regional rivalry with either.

GT simply refuses. Our coaches have been trying for years even Kennedy has reached out.

RE: AAC Hosts More P5's....
Schools I would like to play H&H that I think could be realistically achievable

Vanderbilt
Wake Forest
Duke
Cincinnati
Kansas
NC State
Louisville
Boston College
Iowa State
Stanford
Houston
BYU
Northwestern
Rutgers
Pitt
Syracuse

I would love to get any of these but I think they probably would want a 2 for 1
Mississippi State
Ole Miss
Miami
Illinois
Virginia Tech
TCU

I don’t mind the 2-fer-1 as long as it brings in a mid level “P5”. The smaller, lower tier “P5” you should be able to get as H&H. Those broke PAC and ACC teams are not going to want to pay $1.2 million for a one off game, economically better for them just to play the H&H.

03-lmfao ...my wife's cousin went to MissSt back in the 'turn of the century', (20 years or so ago), and she got us tix to a game each year - my favorite one was a Thursday night game against Oregon (speaking of interesting H&H arrangements) - which was great to see my #3 team (the Quack), who whupped up on the Dogs that particular evening... but yeah the cowbell stuff is a definite 'detractor' which if I never sit thru again will be too soon... or something... 03-drunk

My brother was an Auburn walk-on, and I went to Starkville with our parents to see an Auburn-MissStake game. It was sort of like Troy on steroids. The campus police arrested the Auburn mascot for hopping in the groundskeeper's golf cart and tooling around the open area behind one end zone. Auburn pounded them, something like 45-0, and afterwards Jackie Sherrill took live calls on his radio show, which we tuned in on the drive back.

First caller: "Yew need to quit now."
Sherrill: "I'll take that under advisement."

Second caller: "Yew needs to kneel down on the fifty-yard-line, pull out a big old knife and slice open your belly and let your guts spill out. If you had any."
Sherrill: "I'll take that under advisement."

Third caller: "It ain't got to be fancy like that. Just kill yourself."
Sherrill: "I'll take that under advisement."

And on it went, with Sherrill giving that same answer to every insane redneck who called. Like I said, Troy on steroids.

I was surprised at how few fans they brought to Legion Field to play us, compared to what I expected. It was a lot, but only in the BamaState range.

I can live without seeing them again.

...well, I at least give Sherrill credit for doing the show... 03-nutkick and Aubie has a long rap sheet, from what I've heard... second only to the aforementioned Quack (Puddles) 03-lmfao Good thing Blaze keeps his nose clean, overall... 04-rock

...yeah, MSU is a decent campus, but nothing extremely special, I guess... (Troy on steroids is not too far off, actually... 03-lmfao ) a few decent eateries around - we hit Oby's a few times, which was decent 'bar food' vibe...

...and also good to hear that AU won - I'm sure I watched/listened to that game, as AU is still my #2 team, BTW... 04-cheers (although honestly, I've about had a snootful of the SEC as a whole...03-phew )
