MBB Huskies @ Worthen Arena sponsored by Sceen Broidery
6pm central on ESPN+

Huskies lost by 18 in Dekalb. They need to clean up turnovers (16 compared to the Cardinals 9) and Offensive rebounds (7 compared to 20 for the redbirds). Ball State put the game away early with 10 for 14 from behind the 3pt line in the first half.

Not a critical game except for momentum. Should the Huskies pull off the upset there is a chance NIU could pass the Cardinals as they have a tougher remaining schedule.
It is also possible for streaking Ohio to pass us. But my best GUESS is the Huskies
finish five, six or seven. That first tournament game (if we make it) will be the big mountain to climb. But in the MAC you never know.

NIU 10-13/239* ...... BSU 16-7/133

* I believe this is the best NET ranking for NIU since NET was instituted.

GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

p.s. sorry but it is screen broidery not sceen

I missed the opening. Why no Kaleb Thornton?

Sick.

Huskies were hanging until the last few minutes of the half. Dursemi got called for what Payton does all the time.

GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think David Coit just pulled a hamstring right before half. The broadcast guys didn’t notice but he took himself out and headed to locker room. Not good!

Thanks. Going to be awfully tough (impossible?) with only ten guys dressed and missing two starters.

GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Broken through a couple of times for 1 point leads only to have BSU take it back and go up about 5 each time. Seems like a back and forth game tonight.

Coit was really hurt but he kept coming back in the game hopefully hamstring injury doesn’t linger.

Shorthanded tonight but the team showed up and really battled. Being down some key players and the refs completely jobbing us the entire game was too much to overcome. I did not realize Sparks was the second coming of Michael Jordan. Complete BS. Sparks was either going to score or get a foul, no other outcome was possible tonight when he touched the ball.

The "broadcast guys" are way too busy trying to be clever or cute to notice pertinent details. Even with a stat monitor, they're often clueless on the number of team or individual fouls. Baker still hasn't learned to give the actual score often enough. Not good!
Realize this is a minority opinion but for all the critics who will respond, try to find out how little respect he has around the league. Time NIU said "good night Bill Baker."

I'm not even remotely sure what this is supposed to mean.

And for clarity, I'm about 99.99999% sure CollegeMan was talking about the tv broadcast crew. Not sure why this inspired a Bill Baker rant.

I was talking about the ESPN+ crew. I saw him taking himself out and holding his hamstring with a little over a minute till halftime. The tv broadcasters didn’t comment or seem to notice him limping

And I'm about 99.99999% sure that uiniu57 was adding a comment on the same theme with a different example. That's pretty common throughout these threads. Maybe he listened to the radio instead of watching ESPN+; I don't know.

Also, I did not read any "rant." Just maybe some frustration. Read all of his post, including the first two sentences.

As to Bill Baker, a great Huskie supporter, he has always talked like a color commentator even when alone in the booth or at the table. He did that even when there was no TV and nobody else calling a game. It was frustrating, but at least he was consistent. I once drove half way down the Fox Valley to pick up a dealer part without hearing a football score. And that happened a lot of times, listening to BB. It's pretty much a Baker trademark.

Now back to our regularly-scheduled programming.

I guess some of you didn't have the sound on but the ESPN BSU announcers were constantly talking about Coit and his hamstring.

GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FWIW, I was cooking dinner and was listening to the game (tv feed) in my wireless ear buds and never heard a thing about Coit getting hurt at the end of the 1st half. Then turned the game back on after dinner with about 7 minutes or so to play and Coit's injury was all they could talk about.

So, yes, I agree they were talking non-stop about it but I'm pretty certain they didn't mention or notice it until the 2nd half as I didn't even know about it until I read it on this forum because CollegeMan noticed him leave the floor.

Either way, I'm not sure this topic is really worth all this energy and debate. The Ball State broadcast crew didn't notice and NIU player got hurt because he left the game on his own and went to the locker room.
