A nice road win for Kent State on national TV.

RE: Kent State vs. Buffalo
Enjoyed the Kent St Bulls game. Glad Kent State won and hope it helps with seeding in the big dance. Know the announcers say that the Flashers wear teams down. That run of three 3's and another score was key when Kent was 43 and Bulls where 46. It was a good battle from then. But wonder and guess Buffalo is not as deep as Kent and they seemed to make some mental mistakes in the last 8 minutes of the game.

RE: Kent State vs. Buffalo
Anyone else thinking Buffalo - Kent is becoming a pretty good rivalry in both football and basketball? It is certainly no Akron, but UB does not have a true rival, and Kent State is about as natural as a team in the MAC can get for them due to location, competitiveness of games, academics, etc....

I like the lake Erie battle for EMU and UB, as both fb teams have been respectable. It's tough to drag a team into a secondary rivalry when the other (Kent vs. Akron) is so heated. Ohio and UB are just as good of a choice as Miami has been awful in mbb lately, and over the past half decade UB and Ohio have been to the dance multiple times.

I'd imagine if you ask Buffalo fans who their biggest rival in the MAC is they'd probably answer either Kent or Akron. You might get a few OUs. I doubt anyone says EMU considering they don't play in the same division in football, nor has EMU been a factor in the sport Buffalo has has the most success in (men's basketball).

RE: Kent State vs. Buffalo
If you look at UB's message board, I think you'd see a lot of rivalry feelings toward Ohio. I imagine a lot of it depends on the sport and how well UB and the other teams are doing, but overall, I'd say there is a lot of animosity toward Ohio, especially in men's basketball. Kent State gets its fair share of hate from them, too, so it's close. I think either of those schools would be a good rivalry choice, if nothing else based on their relative proximity to UB.

What's kind of bad is whoever UB considers their #1 rival to be, Buffalo is probably at best their rivals #3 choice. Like for an example, I'm an Akron fan so Kent would obviously be our #1 rival. After them it's probably OU since there is a lot of history between the two schools and OU has tons of alumni in the Akron/Cleveland area so the games usually have a decent turnout with some friendly back and forth banter.

It's still a protected rivalry in fb, just like UT vs. BG, Miami vs. BSU etc.

One thing about a rivalry as heated as the Wagon Wheel is that it dominates thinking enough that a lot of people aren't all that fixed on who the #2 rival is.
