Big 10 also altered their model for Indiana/Purdue. I think they are set up to play everyone in the opposite division 8 out of 18 years except IU/PU. Those they play 6/18 because they play each other every year.

So you don't have to have everyone on a 3/6/6. But its simpler.

The SEC went from 5-2-1 to 5-1-2 after a single 8 year rotation.

The Big Ten gives every team a cross-division rivals and cycles the remainder twice in six years. After six years they changed permanent rivals for every teams but Indiana and Purdue. This cycle will only last 2 years.

The ease of rotation makes for pretty graphics, but the bigger issues in schedule construct relate to competitive fairness. That is why you see the Upper 8 teams in the released schedule each paired with 2 other Upper teams. They don't want one contender to have an overly easy or overly hard schedule. While Tennessee had an up year, Auburn had a down one; not sure what Saban wants.

...
While 9 games is getting the press, I think it is not 100% it crosses the goal line. IF, the SEC cannot agree to add a game, I expect a more nuanced schedule structure than simply playing 14 teams every other year.

I don't get the Oklahoma-Florida pairing. Ok is right down the road from Arkansas. OK
and Ark should be paired together.

The 3rd school for Florida is tough after you start with Georgia and South Carolina with the first 2. But either Auburn or LSU seem like better 3rd choices for Florida.

The pairings for Kentucky are just odd. At least give them Tenn.

Bama should be paired with Ole Miss after you give them Auburn and Tenn.

MS St should be Bama's 3rd if it's not LSU. They've played them more than any other school.

I have no confidence in the SEC schedule-maker at all. We have still only played Georgia once, and we're not playing them in '23, either. And now that OUT are joining in '24, all bets are off. We might never get to host Georgia at this rate.

Agree. They are 90 miles apart and the players from both party on the strip in Tuscaloosa or gamble at the Golden Moon in Philadelphia, MS which is just a jog from Starkville.

As to Oklahoma and Florida it is the result of 2 issues. Both had coaching connections and Oklahoma likely wanted annual games against the Gators for the purpose of recruiting. And of course, it's a marquee game.
