Pretty much need to win both of those games and all the other games to have any shot.

DNB says "hi."

I can’t afford ESPN+

Va Tech's bubble likely popped tonight. They were already long shots, and then they went and lost to Ga Tech.

But as they proved last year, they can win the ACC Tournament.

one big difference is they're almost a lock to have to play on Tuesday instead of Wednesday like last year now. Extra day of fatigue.

Probably didn’t deserve to be in contention anyway but yah I’d say theyd need to win the Pac tourney at this point.

Yeah, if not both (and assuming the others), then at least one and snag at least one other in the conference tournament.

RE: It's Bubble Watch time
Is UNT on the bubble?

Here's their profile:

Record: 22-5 (13-3)

NET: 47 (subject to change with the rest of the night's games)

KenPom: 54 (subject to change)

Quad 1: 1-3

Quad 2: 3-0

Other Quads: 15-2

Road + Neutral: 11-3 (including 7-2 on the road)

Quality Wins: UAB x2 (?)

Quality Losses: St. Mary's, FAU x2

Bad Losses (Quad 3): UNCW, Rice

I say they missed their chance at an at-large by not scalping FAU. If it comes down to beating FAU to get in, they either get the auto-bid anyways or they're out of the at-large picture altogether.

Memphis avoided a loss to UCF but KD injured his ankle. Tough break for Memphis.

Devastating loss for a team chasing an at-large bid.

Meanwhile, Oral Roberts nearly blows a 22-point halftime lead but wins 73-70.

RE: It's Bubble Watch time
FAU takes a loss at MTSU. I think it's a Q2 loss, so not devastating, but I don't think they can lose any of their remaining games. If they make it to the conference final against UNT or us, they should be fine, I'd think.

So many power conferences teams are absolutely pooping the bed down the stretch. Sucks the likes of us, Dayton, Wyoming, etc. couldn't live up to the preseason expectations, cause this year would've been the easiest for a mid-major to get an at large bid in recent memory.

some year for the A10 to be the worst it's been in ages.

Means there's a glimmer of hope for Duquesne and Fordham to break their decades long NCAA tournament drought, both of which are having their collectively best season since they've both been in the A-10.

If Southern Miss had any hope of an at-large it definitely evaporated tonight. Lost 85-54 at 14-14 South Alabama.

Probably thinking more about that other sport...

Then again Northwestern has only made one NCAA Tournament but they've been respectable in the Big Ten for years under Bill Carmody, former Princeton coach, and under Chris Collins. The last few years have been poor under Collins until this year and Illinois has gotten good the last few years under Brad Underwood, I don't think that's a coincidence.

Carmody was a good coach. He had Northwestern before Welsh Ryan was renovated when it was the worst facility among BCS conferences. Welsh Ryan was wooden bleachers then.

That was the beauty of the Big Ten Network as well as huge media deals, it gave Northwestern and everyone in the conference money to spend that wasn't there before. Call me old but I remember bad Northwestern in both football and men's basketball. Now that Northwestern has an income supply that matches the Big Three they have a better chance at staying competitive in the Big Ten. How about Rutgers? In men's basketball, they've made back to back NCAA Tournament appearances. I'm not saying Steve Pikell isn't important but now that Rutgers is getting Big Ten money (and full shares of it), you think that's not helping? Football is also competitive. They were a COVID replacement but they made a bowl in 2021 and for Rutgers to be anywhere close to a bowl in the Big Ten is an accomplishment. Someone has to finish last in the Big Ten in both sports but it won't be because of one school being poorer than the other anymore or even because of a poor historical reputation.

Northwestern started to be decent in football in 1995. That was long before the BTN. Now it seems like they might be returning to the bad old days.

ESPN+ is $9.99 a month.

It’s not really a question of affordability. It’s a question of if you care enough to buy it. And I’ve never cared enough to buy it myself.
