Amari Kelly on becoming a father
“From the time I found out it was nerve-wracking. I didn’t know what to expect. I don’t have both my parents, so bringing a child into this world with no other support it was nerve-wracking because I felt like a lot of the weight was on me. I mean, it is… but now I love it. When he gets here it’s nothing but joy. He brings happiness to my life, my families lives. It’s been fun so far, for real.”

Very interesting insight into the character of Amari Kelly.
I really hope he comes back with the team next year.

It would be nice, but having a child I doubt he comes back another year. Instead, this gives him motivation to succeed on the court this year, especially if he wants to play for money.

On the cover of hawk hoops for february that you can get at the games the seniors for men and wonens team are on cover. Shy phillips pic is not on cover. I wonder if that means he will be back at uncw next year

Really brings about the question of who could stay and who can't. If you look at Verbal Commits, Enoh is the only player on the team listed as a "senior". Shy, MHH and Kelly are listed as juniors, with Kelly as a RS Jr.
What's crazy is to look at our "sophomores". Thomas, Newby, Harvey, Farrar, White, EVH.
And what this really means, barring transfers out, is that we could have pretty much our entire team back next year. SPeaking of Verbal Commits, the name Will McCracken brought back thoughts like "what happened to this guy?". His last tweet was about his committment to UNCW and then crickets. And I can't find where he ever played again.

I hear you. And that may be the case.
On the other hand, if he has any desire at all for graduate work and/or to further develop his game (and I really think another year of the kind of advancement he has had this year would make him much more valuable as a basketball professional), sticking around could make sense for him.
Who knows? Maybe someone(s) coming up with some NIL money for him might be enough to keep him around, and be a more sure thing for UNCW basketball than a lot of other options for the same dollar amount.
