The first actual Liberty Bowl to be played in Memphis was 1965, Ole Miss v Auburn, and the attendance was 38,607.

The first Tiger game in the stadium was September 1965 v Ole Miss. Attendance was 50,160. We also played the Quantico Marines that year, and had an attendance of 2,000.

I was reading the Tennessee budgetary process, and it says that the budget is usually signed into law around the last week of the legislative session, which would be the last week of May. So we're looking at close to two months before anything is final.

Good so far?

684 - 350 is 334. So there is still a $334M shortfall from the ask.

Now ask yourself, was the soccer stadium and Autozone Park upgrades going to cost that much?

1) It is not uncommon in political negotiation to ask for quite a lot more than you actually need or expect to receive.

2) There is no reason to think that all of the $350M will be going to only one of two renovation projects, instead of being split in some way between the two.

but you tend to get more when you can definitively state where this money, and that money are going down to the very last penny. You stand a much better chance of getting everything you ask for at the beginning.
OTOH, general guestimates will get you next to nothing.
I remember the governments of Louisiana and New Orleans complaining that the state of Mississippi got everything they asked for after Katrina.
It wasn't political. Mississippi had everything figured down to the last penny of what it would cost to clean up, and rebuild.
Louisiana however, had a lot of "I think this is the amount we'll needs to get this done" with no real accounting attached.

If Memphis can start doing that..I think it could get much farther along in building projects to revitalize itself.

Any changes?

Nothing yet. I keep track of it pretty closely because I'm a TN state employee, so I want to know when my raise is finalized. I check this page from time to time looking for updates. Kind of useful, although it is more tailored for things that affect state employees:
https://tseaonline.org

Now that I know this I can stop checking as much as I have. 03-lol

Hopefully, the 901FC stadium is one of the items you apply for, fully know that you're dropping it so it looks as if you're willing to give up something to get what you really want.

They've reported 4,000 and 3,700 for the first two games but game video shows that actual physical attendance to be less than half those numbers.

Are sports teams the only event held to this standard? If Memphis in May or Mempho Fest sell a certain number of tickets, but the crowd looks like less are they criticized? Or if a new movie reports such and such millions of dollars in sales over the first weekend, do we ask how many people bought tickets but didn't show up?
Support is buying tickets. Every other market is judged by corporate and community support, but we somehow judge actual attendance

Neither of them is asking the taxpayers to build them specifically a new
$50 million playhouse. With no guarantees that the team will even be here when construction is completed.

I think MiLB, or perhaps MLB, is requiring the BB stadiums to not cohabitate with other sports. I will try to find that and link it.

The USL said clubs need to play on home fields of at least 110x70 yards starting in 2023 with no exceptions.

In past years, the USL allowed the Oklahoma Energy FC to play at Taft Stadium as an exception to the rule.

"Knowing that the field at Taft Stadium would not meet the minimum size requirement, Energy FC and the League resumed discussions about alternative solutions for the club’s home until the completion of the MAPS 4 multipurpose stadium, currently slated for 2026," said Jeff Kretchmar, COO of the Oklahoma City Energy FC.

Louisville got 2 bridges over the Ohio River and St Louis got a new bridge over the Mississippi in 2008's ARRA bill by being prepared. I had hoped Memphis would have learned from that; but, no.

Birmingham Legion FC JUST MOVED into a football stadium shared with at least 4 other tenants.

Starting to believe the league-mandated soccer owner stadium is bullcrap that the city leaders and 901 FC is trying to sneak past us.

Back in 2015 they stated that teams would be required to have their own stadium by 2020.
