Tonight

Someone needs to watch the award winning documentary about the rag-tag group of ne'er-do-wells who embarked upon a mission to abbreviate all 50 state names into 2 letter arrangements.

It's riveting.

Then we have identified (somewhat) the "someone".

Huskies must win one of their remaining games to guarantee a spot in the MAC MBB Tournament. They still have a chance without winning any additional games.

I am confused about Crump. If he played two seasons at Middle Tennessee and three in Dekalb, hasn't he already used up his covid year?

GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NIU is at least a seven seed and has a shot at being a five seed. The Buffalo game will be big.

Crump only played in 9 games his true freshman year. I very well could be wrong but I think he’s still eligible for a Covid year

How many games can you play in basketball and not lose a year of eligibility? I would hope that X Amos can take this as a redshirt year.

He's listed as a senior (along with Thornton and Hunter) but I think all 3 of them are eligible for one more year (COVID).

Of the three, I put Crump at the highest probability to return. And then he'll become a grad assistant and then he'll just live forever in the Convo.

I would think both Amos and Russell will get medical redshirts this year. Ideally they both return but if it's only one, I prioritize Russell.

Russell has played in 9 games and Amos has played in 7.

The google search I did tells me, to get a medical redshirt, a player cannot play in more than 30% of their team's games. I believe we have a regular season of 31 games, plus a minimum of 1 more in the MACT. That's a minimum of 32 games. 30% of that is 9.6 games. So, I believe neither player has eclipsed the 30% threshold.

But I'm probably wrong as I've never really understood the redshirt rules.

RE: 2023 MAC MBB Tournament
We have no idea if Williams will play for NIU again and if he does how good can he be. Since I believe NIU making as many threes a game as their opponents this year has been the teams no.1 improvement and most helpful improvement I’d love to see Hunter come back. Burno can’t count on Williams so he needs to find a couple scoring guards that can make a couple 3’s a game.

I think the team showing progress from year one to now will open a small window for a transfer or two to come in that might have not wanted to with how bad they were the first season.

I think the culture around the team really changed this year - especially in conference play. The players really seemed to like one another and play hard for one another, I think that will only help us attract talent from the portal.

Williams may not be your #1 option on a great team but he was our best player in non-conference play, the game he had against EIU comes to mind. If we get him back next year it only helps the ceiling of this team.
