The sad part of the question is you are asking the single least important question you could possible ask about Jesus. Jesus is pictured as white because that was a traditional image of him in Europe in the middle ages and Renaissance.

The only question that matters is was Jesus real? Is the Gospel real?

If you ask google on your phone was Jesus real, here is what it will tell you:

In fact there is more evidence and proof of Jesus and more written about him than anyone in all of antiquity.

Whether you believe in Him or deny the obvious reality of His existence, you are going to meet Him, stand before Him and be judged by Him.

Because he was born of a woman, Mary who was a Jew from the 12 tribes of Israel.

The only thing scripture tells us of His physical appearance is He was indistinguishable in a crowd from His fellow Jews, and there was no physical beauty about him that made him stand out in a crowd.

There is a verse in Revelation about His physical appearance, but its in His glorified resurrected body and not in His earthly flesh. When He was born on the earth, He had set aside His glorified form and humbled Himself to the flesh as a mortal man just like the rest of us. He was God manifest in the flesh, and experienced life, pain, temptation, fear and death just as all men do as a mortal man.

This is one of several things that separates God from all other man made Gods, He humbled Himself completely and was born as a man, lived as a man and even died a horrible painful torturous death as a man. Though He is God eternal, He humbled Himself completely even to death itself to redeem us of our sin and walk the path He laid out for all men to walk through life and into mortal death.

People sometimes ask why do we have to experience suffering and death as punishment for sin but we are not being ask to do anything God did not make Himself endure as a mortal man. He made Himself experience all we have to experience in our fallen state.

He lived, suffered and shed His own blood in death to redeem us of our sin by faith alone. "IT IS FINISHED".

Job asked God in the OT how can He understand what its like to me a mortal man and face death? Job said he needed an intercessor between him and the Father. How can God as the eternal Creator and Father understand what its like to be a tiny mortal man? This was one of the reasons for God to be manifest in the flesh the way that Jesus was and suffer as Jesus did as a mortal man. God Humbled Himself to the flesh and death.

Your quoting the Revelation description of Him in His glorified form, not Him as He appeared in the 1st century when He walked the earth before the cross.

The Gospels tell us plainly He did not look like that before the Resurrection, that He was just a common looking man and you could not pick Him out in a crowd.

So really you need to be more clear in your question. Do you want to know what Jesus looks like in His glorified eternal form in Heaven today, or do you want to know what He looked like when He walked the earth as a man in the 1st century.

Real Christians don’t care what you look like on the outside. It’s your heart that matters.

I say real because there are people who try to clothe their racism in religion. Those people don’t have love in their heart. They’re evil and hide behind faith to spew hate.

I find it very interesting how some of the biggest doubters over the years have become the greatest evangelist. St. Paul is who comes to mind for me. A very intelligent man who spent years persecuting Christians only to completely change and become one of the greatest evangelist in Christian history. What are your thoughts on this Eric.

Paul was one of the most educated and brilliant men of his generation and time, and he was one of the most zealous Jews for Judaism and the law. God had clearly chosen Paul before the creation of the world to be such a unexpected witness and to write half the NT. Indeed most of the church doctrines come from Pauls letters. As vital as the Gospels are, they are pre church and more about Jesus coming to the Jews and their rejection of Him and the Kingdom age He was offering them at that moment. From Acts and all through Pauls letters we see the birth of the church and Paul giving us Gentiles in Christ the church doctrines for us in this age.

And Pauls letters can be a hard read in the beginning. He is so brilliant and there is so much info compressed into every single sentience, I had a hard time early on as most do. I was trying to read Romans and its was like reading a SCOTUS decision that was way over my head. What helped me was I stopped trying to read Romans and read Galatians over and over and over again. Its much shorter and basic but lays out the patterns and "language" Paul uses in Romans and his deeper letters. Once I began to really grasp Galatians and the doctrine of salvation by faith I started to re-read Romans and my understanding just exploded. Suddenly I realized, "HEY, I'M GETTING THIS!" And its actually suddenly very simple and obvious. I don't think there is a more important book outside of the Gospels than the book of Romans, its the definitive work on the doctrine of salvation and WHY salvation must be about faith and not works for the church age. Works are the byproduct of our salvation, not a path to it.

I think there are several reasons God uses such men who were the most staunch enemies of the Gospel at one point. I wouldn't pretend to understand them all, but I think we can all sense and see the witness it is to other nonbelievers when they see a man like Paul or these others turn so dramatically after years of hard rejection and attacks on the Gospel and Christ.

I have no doubt that Pauls conversion shook many of the Jewish leaders of the day, they would have never conceived Saul of Tarsus would become a follower of the ones he hated the most.

There have been several very famous actors and musicians who had stunning conversations in our lifetimes, but the MSM really does a good job of burying their conversion from the mainstream public.

Guessing if Jesus looked substantially different than those in the middle east he interacted with would have expected a jew to look like, it probably would have been mentioned at least once in the texts. That said, we'll never know for sure.
